Default FOURWINDS H230 Trim Problem

My boat is a 2015 Fourwinns H230. I hadn't used it in 2 weeks until tonight. Left the dock and powered up and just before getting to plane, I got a warning light. I throttled back and stopped. Checked my gages and noticed my TRIM gage showed all the way up. Not true, however, because I have plenty of water at my dock so no need to have the trim up when at the dock. So, I pressed the trim button down and the trim gage never changed. I pressed the trim button and put the engine all the way up and then went all the way down. Trim gage never changed. Is it possible that a faulty trim gage is telling the boat's computer that the trim is all the way up (which it isn't) and the warning light is displayed erroneously?

We had this happen in September a couple of years ago. Otters or similar critters had chewed the wire to the trim gauge indicator. Ours set off an audible alarm.

Is it A Volvo Penta? They are notorious for junk trim senders. I replaced the one on my 06 a year ago and it worked for about a month.

Default Problem Solved

Yep, it was a critter that chewed through the trim wire. Ugh.

My apologies to Fourwinns for misidentifying my boat. I can't believe I did that after being a Fourwinns owner for 35 years. I must be getting old.

Why do the critters chew all the way through? After a few gnaws don’t they realize it’s not food? Or are they sharpening their teeth?
