Default Considering RV purchase - Advice?

I'm Considering RV purchase, 1989 Mallard Class C - 36k miles - Mint condition
So far I've only seen pictures and talked with the owner, but going to see this w/e to inspect.

Does anyone know a 'traveling' mechanic I could hire, to inspect engine, check transmission, brakes, exhaust, the usual things....

I know the RV is 29 yrs old, but the price is very low and if in great condition and well cared for, I may jump on it.

Would only have this or a few years use, a couple winter FLA trips...

Thanks for your feedback, Pros & Cons, greatly appreciated !!!

Main issue with any old vehicle and an RV in particular is that rubber and plastic do not like to sit unused. The belts, hoses, plumbing and door gaskets might be old, dry, cracked and leaking. Aside from that all the obvious things to check on any vehicle. Also, look for any signs of a roof leak. Wood rot inside the walls is common since it's such a closed up space and can never really dry out.

I have a 1990 Class B van that I gutted and rebuilt inside. Lots of work but got it just how I want it now.

I just had Dennis Thompson do an "inspection" of an RV. I got my money's worth. He took his time, explained every issue, and provided me with a 3-page report. I was there when he did the inspection which helped me be able to ask questions and get more info than just what was down on the report. He was recommended to me by others on this forum.

Here's contact info:

Default 1988 Itasca 27R

Is my current project. I pick up old motor homes that need cosmetics, minor repairs and sell them.

Bill's RV in Chichester (603.798.3000) does all the coach work. Knowledgeable, reliable, and affordable. He has tons of old parts in storage.

Repair Service of NE in Gilford does the chassis work. 603.581.7116

Good Luck!
