Default Marine Patrol Boat Chase by Weirs?

Hi all,

Was taking a boat ride with the family tonight and approaching the no-wake zone between Governors and Eagle we noticed one of the larger Marine Patrol boats (lights flashing no siren) racing to get into Meredith Bay. A few minutes later as we were probably halfway through the no-wake zone between Governors and Eagle, we saw about a third of the way between Eagle and Weirs Beach two of the smaller marine patrol boats (also lights flashing but no siren) slowly following what I’d say was a 27-30’ bowrider going a bit more than headway speed.

The larger Marine Patrol boat pulled up along side and all 3 seemed to be surrounding the boat in question, then the boat powered up, turned towards Weirs Beach, then started racing down into Meredith Bay being chased by Marine Patrol that were seeming trying to follow/surround him.

Anyone else see this or know what was going on?

You head straight for a beach where a couple Harleys are approaching and beach the boat up on the road causing the bikes to wipe out. Nobody gets hurt. You jump out of the boat and grab one of the bikes and take off.

Oh and there is a cut girl in black leather that joins you on the bike.

Like, where are you going to hide?

I have no knowledge of the incident but I am guessing (Speculating) that alcohol was involved. Sometimes that leads to bad decisions with worse outcomes!

The guy (who was open carrying his firearm) probably started with a float plane ride from 19 Mile Bay. The float plane then dropped the guy off at the Dive for a few adult beverages and entertainment. He then realized it was getting late, and cooking dinner for his family was his responsibility, so he jumped in his boat so he could drive to shore and high-tail it to Market Basket in Plymouth. Sounds plausible, doesn’t it? . Perhaps some others can add more to the story….like perhaps the guy had also stopped at Farm Island to feed the roosters before getting on the float plane…. We can have some fun with this!

Default At MP HQ?

Confusing at best.
I'm in Weirs Bay, surrounded by three MP boats and suddenly I "turn myself in" at Glendale HQ?

"Suddenly" Or after a number of hours to sober up?

Like Ted Kennedy turning himself in the next morning.

Again, just speculating. Nothing to see here folks. Move along....................

I am totally shocked they couldn't intercept him on the water, or at the very least catch him as he was exiting the boat.

So I guess the takeaway is that you can run and get away!

So odd,,,

Once they confirmed the registration and possible owner why risk the chase

Default MP VHF channel...

On what VHF channel would MP have been using to communicate with each other?

I'd like to have monitored it.

They might be able to get the boats registration, but the MP do not know if it is stolen or used in a crime.

From the video, it did not look too busy on the water, so I agree that they should have been able to follow this individual and have the local police waiting for him where ever he decided to land.

This is what I was thinking. As Dad used to say, "you can outrun a car, but you can't outrun a radio."

After a bunch of high profile deaths, it's standard practice for many police departments to avoid high speed chases unless they believe the suspect is a danger if he gets away. Illustrated here with all boats obeying the no wake zone, haha. Obviously, in this case, he was not going to get away.

The part I found funniest in one of the accounts is that they both (perpetrator and MP) slowed down to no wake speed when going through a no-wake zone.

Hoo Boy! See? Boating is bad for your interpersonal relationships and your reputation. To save yourselves you need to sell your boat and lakefront/island properties and move back to your home state Now! Repent you Sinners!

They use the State Police Troop E trunking frequencies. I'm not sure if there is one particular frequency, but if I have my scanner on today and here them I'll let you know.

Mark Sisti has defended many local people in high profile cases. His record in of successes in court is pretty good.

Here is more information about the incident from a Laconia Sun article:

Hard to stop a boat underway that doesn't want to be stopped. Ramming could be dangerous to all involved. The boat has to stop on its own at some point. End of chase.

Some defendants deserve to lose. Since this guy seems to have gone after (his wife?) twice, and there's zero question he committed a serious offense on the water, I doubt his lawyer expects to burnish his reputation here

Default Indictments issued in boat chase case

Morrissette’s arrest on July 15 followed an hour-long boat chase on Lake Winnipesaukee during which he attempted to outrun state Marine Patrol patrol boats in a pursuit that covered parts of the lake in four different communities.
