Default Howard Stern's on a Rampage with Anti-Vaxxer's

I don't really care for Howard Stern's but I definitely agree with him on this one. But I have not read every quote

https://t.co/5y52sfUwIP

He sure never sugar coats his feelings on anything.

Did you have the same respect for his thoughts when he was tossing deli meat on a strippers butt to see if it would stick?

All coming from the person that has made hundreds of millions of dollars by being anti-establishment is now all the sudden establishment. I have no respect for him and never had any respect for him I could care less what he thinks

I told you in my opening post that I don’t like him. That’s not enough?
I find it interesting and that’s why I posted it.

I’m sorry I didn’t not agree with you on vaccination. As stated a few times here I think it should be a person choice not mandatory. Just my opinion based on my research and if people don’t like it that’s their choice and that’s fine. Not going to get into a lengthy discussion or argument. Just to reiterate the governments forcing you to this vax to me is establishment.

Have a happy thanksgiving

I have not heard him in years, but you misunderstand Howard Stern. Like many successful entertainers, he has deep contradictions. He is sophomoric and crude, but also a very rigorous thinker. Kind of like if the 9th grade clown also turned out to be the smartest kid in the class. If you don't listen closely, you only remember the first part. But it is the second part that gets A-list guests on his shows.

So like Think, I am not surprised at all that he is railing against anti-vaxxers. It is not a question of establishment, it is science and rational thought. A huge part of his schtick is rational.

Of course, I expect he's joking about his nurse's breasts while he's railing...

You don't seem to understand how science (or media) works.

Thanks, an excellence piece. (Although Kirk is obviously superior, and only a fool would choose Picard!)

You might enjoy Ignorance by Stuart Firestein; he describes how, paradoxically, it is ignorance rather than knowledge that drives science

I think that has been around for a long time, sort of like washing your hands.
My personal experience is that I see a lot of people leave the men's room without ever washing their hands.
So I use the paper towel that I dry my hands with to open the door... since whatever was on their hands transfers.
I would guess the same would happen on groceries... not to mention when someone coughs or sneezes.

Especially note these words, Joey:

"“Objective truths exist outside of your perception of reality, such as the value of pi; E = mc˛; Earth’s rate of rotation; and that carbon dioxide and methane are greenhouse gases. These statements can be verified by anybody, at any time, and at any place. And they are true, whether or not you believe in them. Meanwhile, personal truths are what you may hold dear, but have no real way of convincing others who disagree, except by heated argument, coercion or by force.”

Does that make any sense to you? If it doesn't, you're simply not living in the rational, objective, verifiable universe. You're living in a world with your own personal laws of physics and medicine.

I’ve never heard of anyone being hospitalized because someone else didn’t wash their hands in the men’s room. People do lots of things because they’re told they’re supposed to without thinking about whether it makes sense. There’s a dearth of independent thinking in favor of following the crowd just because.

I placed a trash can on the outside of the bathrooms knowing this to be the case.

I do find it odd that people think Chlorox and Lysol are somehow something that came from Covid.

Where did I ever say in any of my posts I’m trying to convince anybody of anything. Believe what you want to believe through your research and I will believe what I want to believe through my research.

It’s not my job to convince you of anything. I don’t force my opinions and observations and conclusions on anybody unlike you trying to force your opinion down my throat. In my opinion you are quite the arrogant know it all type of person I try to avoid

And by the way I don’t need a math lesson on how Pi works

Of course, it's from Purdue, so it's probably liberal indoctrination.

Well, you said, "I’ve never heard of anyone being hospitalized because someone else didn’t wash their hands in the men’s room." That doesn't show a very high knowledge of science. The fact that germs cause fatal illnesses spread by unclean hands goes back close more than 150 years. Thanks to "how science works," you don't have to have personally heard of a specific case to know that this is true.

Never met him, never said he was sincere, even noted that I have not heard him in years. I said only that he was both very crude and highly intelligent. You continue to miss this second part

Also, didn't you post just a moment ago that you never try to convince anybody of anything? Aren't you trying to convince us now with multiple posts decrying Howard Stern?

No I am not trying to convince you of anything. Stop trying to be a spin doctor and twisting my words into your warped agenda.

You're trying to convince us that you have a right to your personal opinions. That sure sounds valid on the surface. The reality is that opinions determine behavior, and behavior impacts other people, and no, you don't have a right to impose your behaviors on others. I don't care what your opinions are. I do care what your behaviors are. I also care if you spread false information that makes other people do dangerous things that put others at risk.

What is this "research" you speak of that you do? Where are you doing your scientific research? Are you doing ANY scientific research, or are you only listening to radical rightwing radio that rejects science? (Until the commentators get Covid and apologize for their lies just before they die.)

The above-linked article by Neil deGrasse Tyson is basically saying that objective truth exists outside your opinions. When it comes to a deadly disease, what we want is objective scientific facts so we know what behaviors to adopt to stop the disease. Tyson is one of the most respected scientists in the world. You should listen to what he has to say about the importance of science; it could save our skins right now.

What is this "research" you speak of that you do? Where are you doing your scientific research? Are you doing ANY scientific research, or are you only listening to radical rightwing radio that rejects science? (Until the commentators get Covid and apologize for their lies just before they die.)

Stop forcing your agenda down my thought. I don’t need to justify my thoughts opinions research and observations to anyone but myself. I could care less about your opinion.

I take that as a clear "No," you are not doing one iota of scientific reading. Now we know that you have zero basis for your opinions, which are based only on your personal feelings, not on reality out there in the material world. You think you can spread false information without justifying it. You're getting a lot of pushback on that because your kind of talk is dangerous. When you put baloney on the internet in a mixed forum, don't be surprised when people ask you to justify it. Yes, you do owe us proof of your opinions because when you lie publicly you cause public harm.

Where did you get your education? I feel cheated as taxpayer by your school. When I was in school we were taught the difference between facts and opinions in grade 4.

Who might I ask are “we” ? You have no idea who I am and what I do for a living and I don’t need to justify myself to you or anybody else keep beating your drum and beating your drum and pushing your agenda on others because that’s what people like you do. If you don’t like other people‘s opinion all you do is scream louder and louder so you think that they will believe you and agree with you eventually but that’s not how life works. You sound like a two-year-old immature whiny infant.

And if you think you are so smart look me up and you could see my education what I’ve done for a living and what I’ve accomplished in my life. My not a keyboard tough guy like you are

I'm pretty sure that sentence is a quadruple violation of federal redundancy laws. What is redundancy? This sentence has none: "You, sir, are a dunce."

Any chance of a covid forum separate from anything associated with the winni forum? So many options.

You are an arrogant self centered obnoxious person. Typical of people like yourself, always resorting to name calling when they are frustrated and don’t get there way.

I apologize. I've never called anyone a dunce before. It's been on my bucket list for a long time. Finally can cross that one off.

It wouldn't make a difference. Covid currently has global effects.
It will literally be entering every topic for years to come.
At least keeping it to a sub-forum limits the exposure of those that choose to jump over it.

It will. I agree, in some way or another, enter topics for years to come.

Separately, I habitually select the “New Posts” button at the top of the Winni Forum. Given the frequency of daily covid posts, the only alternative I’ve found to more easily review, or potentially comment on anything unrelated to that controversial five letter word, and directly related to topics unique to the NH lakes region, is to select the “Forums” button and select anything other than the “controversial five letter word” forum.

After click on ''New Posts''.
Look to the far right and it will tell you which sub-forum it has been posted in.

Far and way, “covid” is and has been the most popular winnipesaukee sub-forum topic coming up on 2 years now. As such, it always bubbles to the top when selecting the “New Posts” button, as it will with my post here.

It’s a topic that is in no way unique to Lake Winnipesaukee or the lakes region. Would be great if there were a forum “end user” method of never seeing any post associated with a specific sub-forum such as this given so many other avenues are available to research and debate on such a topic.
