Default December boating

Sunday (12/6) was a beauty day and Monday looks like another one. Few boats are still on the lake, but this one went by on Sunday, sporting a nice rooster tail. It is hard to believe that snowmobile season opens in 8 days.

Saw about ten different boats out there yesterday, just cruis'n and going past flasher buoy-3 at the south end of Bear Island, soak'n up that afternoon sun....it felt more like early April than early December with that warm sunshine.

Besides the different fun-boats out for a cruise ..... there was a construction barge with a septic tanker truck on-board from Lamprey's Septic....betcha that's an expensive pump out.

Smile December Boating

Absolute total unequivocal jealousy!
Glad someone is still enjoying boating.

Default What a value this could be...

What a value this could be. 12-14 ft 15-20 year old Boston Whaler with a 25 HP outboard on a trailer.

Great thing to have for those 50 degree days in December. Easy to drain down after the ride. Woo Hoo!!!

My new small waters fishing rig awaits.

It's a 13' Old Town square stern canoe with a brandy new Yamaha 2.5 hanging on the back.

For the want of a registration, I'd be out zooming (putting?) around.

I just can't bring myself to register it now for only a day's use.

I flew over the lake a couple of times today and sadly, did not see a single boat out on the water.

I can't wait to explore the lake next Spring/summer with the new boat. I haven't been there for quite some time!

Did you wave at my bird languishing in the hangar while it's on THJRH (Total Hip Joint Replacement Hiatus)?

I fully expected low temps and snow to keep me from thinking about boating and other hobbies while I recover.

This is torture!

Wait, it occurs to me that since I have moved to NH full time, the weather has been great and gas is at $2 or below.

You're welcome!

Yesterday, Sunday, there was two bass boats out there fishing the marker buoys off the north side of Mark Island so's that must be legal. How does the MP determine if you are fishing trout, which is not legal, or bass, which is legal, this time of year?

Marine Patrol does not enforce Fish & Game rules and regulations. Granted the two departments can work together when needed but it is not generally their mission to do Fish & Game's job. They are really not trained for it.

How does Fish & Game know if you are breaking the law?

By watching you very very closely, the same way as if you were hunting on land and was going after / targeting a species of game that is out of season. There are lots of things.. you can not hunt for.. at different times of different hunting seasons. The same rules somewhat apply to fishing.

There are places on the lake right now during this fall / winter season that you can not fish at all no matter what type of fish you would like to catch.

It's all in the rule books for each body of water.

More on topic, I was out with my son the day after Thanksgiving from sunup to sundown, and my son with his cousin was on the water once again from sunup to sundown Thursday and Saturday this past week fishing. Not that good as far as fishing was concerned, but having the lake just about all to yourself for the whole day was great.

On Thursday a lot of the backwater coves had a thin covering of ice on them, nothing that a boat could not cut through with the trolling motor. On Saturday they said all the ice was gone.

I'd way rather be doing some December boating down in the Keys.
