Default Route 104 Barbecue

There are two BBQ places on 104 before getting on 93. I tried the BBQ Shak and thought the ribs and brisket were quite good. Anyone have any feedback on the other one (Texas BBQ?)?

The Texas BBQ is awesome! I have had them cater a couple island parties I have had in the past and the food is always great! True authentic Texas style BBQ!

I've only had Texas BBQ once, but it wasn't awesome enough to ever pull me back.

My nephew texted me a pic of his lunch at the Shak just yesterday (attached), and it looked pretty sweet.

I'd give the latter a try if the timing ever worked out!

I second Dan's comment. My wife and I go to the Texas Smoked BBQ place on Rt. 104 in New Hampton a number of times each summer. The food is delicious and you can either eat it at one of their numerous picnic tables (many with umbrellas) or do take-out. We usually choose from their "Single Side" menu which provides a main entree, a side dish of either potato salad, corn bread, or (my favorite) delicious smoked baked beans, plus a cold canned soft drink. We always get either the pulled pork sandwich, brisket sandwich, or quarter chicken (my wife's favorite). I don't think you can go wrong there.

I went there today. Sadly, they were out of ribs but the brisket, pulled pork, and chicken got the thumbs up from the family. The consensus is we need to go back and try the ribs and try the chicken from the BBQ Shak. Something to look forward to next week!

Default The Traveling Texas Smoke Shop

Every Father's Day for the past decade or so. The family always does a take-out and brings the meat to the beach for a cookout. A Family favorite and cannot be happier! You call in advance and they will reserve the food for pickup. They only smoke so much a day and run out of food early.

They will also cater but reserve early they are booked solid! On one occasion I attended a wedding on Long Island. He brought the small smoker to the premises and began smoking before the sun rose!

I have folks from the South (Texas and N Carolina) who claim the meat is as good or better than their home state!

Ordered a whole rack of ribs from the shack ounce and they came cut up instead of intact and were pretty dry. Think they may have been leftovers.
Later, I bought a rack at Texas BBQ and they were awesome……Triple wrapped and smoked to perfection. Excellent flavor, moist and tender
Texas gets my vote

Went there for lunch today and had the best “fall off the bone” ribs ever! Everything there is authentic, real deal, Texas Que! Two sticky thumbs up!!

In the foil are rib tips which are amazing! Thats a full rack….you can’t see it alll but there are four slabs stacked on top of one another. We also got an order of brisket not shown in the pic which was excellent! There were four of us and we went home with extras!
