Ice/Snow Surface ??
I'm looking for reports from anyone that has been on the ice in the last few days. I know the ice is safe, it's covered with snow, and there is a lot of water content in that snow, which means that there are probably some spots with water below the snow. What is the top surface like? Is it conducive to walking, snow shoes, cross country skies, waterproof rubber boots or what? Will a walker sink through the top surface? Is it frozen too hard to make the journey across to the islands on skies? I would expect a mix of conditions, but what is the mostly undisturbed snow surface like? Looking forward to a winter outing this weekend, so I hope it stays cold with some more snow!

don'[t know why that didn't work. Just go to General Discussion and look for Ice Conditions.
