Default Did anyone ski today?

I'd appreciate any recent ski reports. Is it worth the trip? Thanks

Default ...Watervile Valley!

How bad has the skiing been at Waterville Valley this year?

It has been so bad this year that Waterville Valley management has thrown their hands up in the air and started screaming ...... and they made an unusually honest and unbiased decision .... they decided to change their name from Waterville Valley to Watervile Valley to honestly reflect the conditions ..... ho-ho-ho!

Heading to Cannon today, Loon, Gunstock and Crotched have all cancelled Alpine races due to lack of snow. Pat's Peak yesterday was getting very thin in a lot of areas. It's not the best start we've seen, they all need snow.

I skied Attitash this morning. Very marginal. The only good news is the place was empty due to the poor conditions. Time to watch the Pats.

Rolled into Cannon at 8:00 and looking from from the Parkway I was almost shocked at what it looked like. They did get the Alpine race in on a very small strip down the side of Gary's, the fact they got it in was impressive considering it was raining until about 9:15. Went over to the main lodge and looking up the hill it was hard to even see an open trail, my daughter skied after the race and was glad she took her rock skis. Marginal at best, they need snow.

I never even made the trip to Cannon this weekend after getting the lowdown from friends. They lost 2/3 of their open trails which were natural snow only. I'll be there Thursday through the weekend though. Should be much improved.

Skied Attitash again today. Conditions weren't great but certainly improved from Sunday. Much faster given everything froze last evening. Ski guns were working all day and I'm sure they are firing tonight. The best thing about Attitash is there are probably only 50% of the folks here compared to a normal Christmas school vacation day. Then again the mountain is probably only 50% open. We are slowly improving. Let's pray for a big Nor'easter!!
