Conditions????

Ok, I see snow up there in Moultonboro, should I register the sleds???? Any idea on the ice conditions?? What about trails around the lake?

It is time to register the sleds! We will have at least one weekend of good sledding. A foot or more is here, and the trails had been open before the big melt. The temperature during the snow was in the high 20's, so the snow is good for packing down. Once the club grooms the trails, all should be pretty nice. The ice appears safe, and has been since before Christmas. It was expose to a lot of cold while bare - so should be solid except in the normal spots.

The MSC trails and Corridor 15 are groomed. We packed right after the snow and have been dragging since.

I hate to bring it up but I'm hearing the "R" word in next week's Tuesday/Wednesday weather discussions. Go get it while you can!

That is not up here weather.com has us getting snow!! The rain is down towards Boston, starting out as snow and then changing over and besides its a long ways away!!

Actually I'm told a little of the R stuff would be good to create a solid base on a groomed trail. Just a little please then bring on a dump

Oh, it's definitely a long way off. I'm getting my info from a much more detailed source than what you get in the generic weather.com graphics. It's a weather discussion from the National Weather Service in Gray, ME.

Yes, a LITTLE rain wouldn't do much harm.

After a 25 mile ride this morning (don't tell my boss ) the report is; snowmobile conditions are pretty good. Red hill is well groomed and has plenty of snow. There are some slushy spots on the lake at the normal spots, so use some caution there. Even the Powerline trail isn't too bumpy yet. It should be a good weekend of riding.

Just rode from Suissevale to Skelly's then from Skelly's to Ambrose cove over the lake to the power-line trail to Salmon Meadow Cove then back down the power-line on to the lake then over the lake to the Suissevale beach. Conditions are really pretty good. I've seen the power-line trail in much worse shape at mid-season than it is right now. It's actually good and not bumpy. The lake is awesome with all the fresh powder just be really careful for obvious reasons. The bays and coves are pretty frozen up, I would shy away from larger open areas. There are bobhouses in most bays. There are several in the Suissevale/Ambrose Cove area. There are bobhouses in Center Harbor and Meredith Bay. Those bobhouses are not very far out. The tracks from Weirs to Meredith looked unridden when I drove by in my truck. The Meredith Trail from the lake looked unridden as well. That was as of 12:30pm Friday.
