Need advice on towns to live 1 hr from Logan

Hello fellow forum helpers~

My son and his gf are planning on moving back east from CA next year.

The request list for the new town is safe schools, a town center, restaurants, not cookie cutter developments, can be an older home, and within an hour of Logan airport for occasional work related travel. I think the budget is flexible 700-800K.

Since I don't know a thing about which towns to give him to look at, can anyone give me a few towns to explore- he's tired of the homelessness, crime, and weather issues of his current place- thank you so much in advance!
