John Harrington, President

Greetings and happy holidays to all! I am writing this today while Steve Janaitis and his team are teaching the youth safety course to 25 or so young riders. As the winter solstice arrives, it is great to see snow already on the ground. We have received approximately 9”, to as much as a foot, in some areas and we were able to get out and pack the trails. We have had some riders out and about. Personally, if I was headed out this early I would be using my old 2 up!

Social (this section by Cathy Erving): I want to start off by thanking everyone who attended our Xmas party. We had 70 members sign up! The Fundraising Auction was a huge success with big winners walking away with wonderful getaway packages in the Lakes Region and Pittsburg! The Ross Wagner Memorial 50/50 Raffle was also a great success with $435 raised for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

RECIPROCAL WEEKEND CLUB RIDE
January 31 – February 1
Northern Comfort Motel - Colebrook, NH
$65/1 adult or $85/2 adults
Indoor Swimming Pool
In-room Coffee Maker and Fridge

Now that the snow has arrived, we are planning a Club Ride during the Reciprocal Weekend on January 31 – February 2. This is a great opportunity to ride in VT or Maine without paying a registration fee! We plan to stay in Colebrook at the Northern Comfort Motel which has rooms with 2 full beds, or 1 king. Each room is $85/night for 2 adults, or $65/night for 1 adult. We need to reserve rooms ASAP because this is a popular weekend! As of this letter, there are only 14 rooms available. I’d like to give the hotel preliminary numbers so PLEASE contact me ASAP, as rooms fill up FAST! We need to reserve rooms! Cathy Erving MoultonboroSMC@gmail.com or 603-630-3333
There may be the option of riding from the Club Garage in Moultonboro to Colebrook on Friday, January 31st, provided there is enough snow. Steve Janaitis is planning the Ride schedule and routes, so feel free to contact him with questions. SJanaitis@acosta.com

Starting in January, provided there is enough snow, we will be planning Club Rides every Saturday. Steve Janaitis will be leading the rides. Families are welcome! Ladies, this is a great opportunity to get out there and ride too! The rides leave from the Village Kitchen at 8am. If you would like to join some of us for breakfast, we meet at 7am inside. Please visit the website, as updates on ride destinations will be posted as they are available.
The Jr. Rider Safety Course was held on Saturday, December 21st, 8am at Geneva Point Center. This class is free and includes lunch. This is a fantastic course designed to teach them rider safety. Upon completion, the participants will receive a certificate of course completion. There will be an outdoor portion of the course with practical riding time as well. Parents are encouraged to stay, and lunch will be provided for them as well. As of now we have 25 kids

We have other fun activities planned such as a Progressive Dinner Ride, Bonfire Ride, and Dinners, so please check out the website often for updates and info!

Best wishes for a Happy Holiday! See you on the trails!
Cathy Erving, Treasurer / Social Director

Trail Updates: We have completed the trail work for the season and I believe that the trails are in good shape to start the season. John Anderson is probably pounding in his last stop sign and is ready for a hot tub (thanks to John for his and Pat Venuti’s work) We were not faced with any last minute reroutes as we did last year so that always makes it a bit easier. Thank you to all that showed up week after week to get the work done. Without you, this work would never get done.

Please note that we share many trails with other users and to always use caution when riding. In particular, look for hikers and snowshoers on the LRCT properties- Red Hill and the Castle area.

The trail that runs through the Moultonborough Rec Dept Playground (near Subway) is closed for the winter to protect the brand new soccer field. Please stay off this area. Subway, Murphy’s, DaSilva’s, Aubuchon, and all of the others businesses can still be reached off corridor 15 (see sign to Murphy’s at the junction).

Also, please note the slightly new trail conditions around Tedeschi’s (formerly Fuller’s). Last year, we moved the trail crossing close to the Chapel in the Valley. This year, Tedeschi’s completed some new fencing and landscape work- just watch for the signs.

In conjunction with the youth safety class, we just had our annual groomer’s safety meeting and brief. We are looking forward to being busy in in the seats of our grooming fleet!

Grooming Equipment: Thanks to Don Lemien and Rod MacDonald (and “new” recruit Milan Marsden), our two Tucker 1000 groomers are ready to go and are in their winter positions. Special thanks to Doug Murphy towing for moving our equipment around town!

We were able to secure grant funding to replace the oldest of our Skandic snowmobile groomers with a new four stroke Skandic. Thanks to Brian Hall and Steve Janaitis for shepherding that paperwork through! Paul Nerney is fabricating a new hitch assembly for it now, and hopefully it will be ready to go in a week or so.

Land Owners: Please respect our land owner’s property as you cross their land. It is only because of their generosity and support that we have a trail system to ride on. If you know or see them, please express your gratitude!

Happy Holidays to all of our great volunteers, members and landowners. Safe Riding!!
