Default Best Fries Clams (other than Pop's)

Now that Pop's is closed, was wondering what people thought were
a worthy alternative . . .

Not sure where you are located, but I think the Weathervane Restaurant near the Chichester + Concord line could be a runner up (and worth the drive).

I believe it's on Route 4, 9, and 202. You can get there from Rte 28 in Epson or Route 393 in Concord.

FWIW they also have a Weathervane Restaurant at the Weirs, but I don't think it's been open for a couple of years due to staffing issues.

A year ago, I would've said Dockside has the best in the area (including Pop's), but the last couple times we've been there they were undercooked/slightly soggy.

Shibley's was very good the other day, but not huge bellies. I would be waivering between there and Dockside for first place right now.

The last time I was at Town Docks, I was pleasantly surprised (but they close soon).

Red Hill Dari gets fine reviews, but I've tried twice and have been disappointed both.

Default Pops; Town Docks

Don't eat them as often as I'd like (I like them but not so much my aging digestive system).

I'd second the vote for Shibleys, and the Wolfetrap in Wolfeboro.

Default Peppers Landing

If you don't mind a ride down rte 11 Peppers Landing in Rochester (in the strip mall where the New State Liquor store is) is excellent. Actually everything we have had there is great

Default Fried clams

I have heard from several that the fried clams at The Union Diner in Laconia are very good.

I've had clams at The Union Diner and they were excellent. They don't always have them, and if I remember, Thursday is when they most often have them.

99 Restaurant in North Conway also has excellent clams, but stop serving them around this time...Late September/early October...Call ahead and take a nice drive north.

Default Fried Clams

Union Diner and T-Bones both have excellent whole belly clams. Unfortunately they are specials and not on the regular menus. All good things.............
