Alternate Routes - Meredith
Those in the know.
What are alternate routes to avoid the lights in Meredith? Heading North. And heading South. |

I know but I'm not going to tell you because it redirects the traffic past my house which makes my road noisier and busier.

You missed me.
Unless traffic is pretty bad in Meredith it won't suggest the alternate route because it is significantly longer unless there is traffic. Just tried it on Google, Bing, Open Street Map, and Map Quest. All follow 25E from the lights. |

I can suggest a couple of different ways from Moultonboro, 25B being one of them that will bypass Meredith. Take some side roads and it will drop you on Rte 104.... There are others as well but I do not generally use this route!

Going north 25B out of Center Harbor to RT 3 north.
Going south is not so easy. 25B to RT 3 south to Waukewan RD. to Winona Rd to RT104. And that, as they say, is a long way around the block. Probably take longer but be more enjoyable. |

week like motorcycle week to get to Moutonboro I take the left at lights before Meredith on 124 ( exit 23 off of highway) then right at print barn which gets you to rt 3 take left then right on 25B ( I think ) which gets into center of Center Harbor. Someone else maybe able to give you road names

Sometimes on sunday afternoon, westbound traffic on 25 is backed up almost to Moulton Farms. Take a right on Keyser Rd (if you don't mind dirt roads) and it takes you right over to College Rd and then rt 3 to Waukewan St or just go south to the Meredith lights which is a short wait going south.

Stuck in Meredith Traffic going south on Rt 25
If you find yourself stuck on Rt 25 heading down the hill by the Inter-Lakes school, take a left onto Barnard Ridge Rd, just before the school. Go to the end and take a right onto Pleasant St. You will be able to take a left onto Rt 25 again by the Meredith movie theater (Barnz's) when some courteous driver lets you. Alternative is to take a right on Rt 25 again, go into the Meredith Hannaford's parking lot, go behind the theater, behind the bank and then take a right onto RT 25 on the ATM / drive-thru windows side of the bank.
Takes a bit of maneuvering and you gain a few minutes, but it sure beats standing still in traffic. |

Cutting in line
Going down Barnard Ridge to Pleasant St is just cutting in line. You still have to go through the lights. I see it in Merrimack getting off at exit 11 on the Everett Tpk. People pass you in the breakdown lane (illegally), pay the off toll, stop at the light at the bottom of the off ramp and then go back up the on ramp. All to save a few minutes. Really??!!

Timing
Samaim - you, me and all our friends know it and use it.
During the summer months, one thing we have figured out about Meredith traffic is timing. We avoid going south on RT 25 during the hours of 10am-1pm on Saturdays as most renters north of Meredith have to be out by 11 am and all of them come down RT 25. We also avoid going north on RT 3 coming into Meredith between the hours of 1-5 on Saturday afternoon, because new renters cannot check in until after 3 pm. And of course, most of the afternoon Sundays going south as most out of town folks are heading back south; bad weather days are better for traffic than nice weather days as people tend to leave sporadically on bad weather days, but on nice weather days, everyone decides to leave around 4pm or 5 pm. Bottom line, plan early morning or late afternoon/evenings to travel through Meredith on the weekends. |
