Did you get an invite, or just show up?

It is kind of a neat place. The previous owner was a friend so I went to a cookout there. Some unique features for sure and a nice area of sandy beach. The biggest downside in my opinion is the holding tank. But, owning your own island is kind of cool!

LOL! You’re invited anytime!

Seriously, I’ll have you over for a glass or two of the grape! Maybe we can talk Jason and his lovely bride to come over at the same time!

Talk soon!

Unless I'm out on a boat, I don't get to see sunsets from home like a lot of you lucky folks. What I CAN see are some pretty cool sunrises, especially since Holly the dog thinks 5 am is an appropriate wake up time for me. Here's this morning's....

All in all, it's been a pretty amazing summer for me. Despite all the rainy weather, I've actually made my dream come true... working on the lake! Some days have been long, but never lacking amazing views. I've met and interacted with so many nice, friendly people along the way that I've almost forgotten how stressful the auto service business actually was. As my season is winding down, the harsh reality is setting in... I have to go back to a " real job" for a little while anyway, and I'm dreading the thought of throwing myself back in the fire. I guess it will make me appreciate next summer even more, and how beautiful this area really is!! Someday...." Sigh"...

Glad the summer went so well for you. What is your winter gig, back at the service desk part time?

There really are a ton of truly nice, pleasant people in this world. Sometimes when you run into some that aren't so nice it can be easy to forget, but they are all around us.

Spotted this at the Glendale docks... perspective buyer taking it out for a " road test". I think I'm in love, but wouldn't be with the fuel bills!

I think that is an R35 Cobalt. The list price is in the neighborhood of $800,000. Nice neighborhood!

It looks like it could be this Cobalt from East Coast Flightcraft:

That sure looks like the same boat!

Beautiful boat! I wonder what the top speed is with those twin 600’s?

It appears that you didn't consume enough alcohol this summer. That is a lot of bottles to be bringing back...

Ok from the man who had frozen dock lines last year, this is concerning.... Or is it simply that you have so much to move back to the main land, that if you don't start now, you are concerned that you will have to deal with froozen dock lines again....

Language restrictions on this site are preventing me from saying what I really want to say to you right now! Few reasons actually...none of which have to do with my age! Family things at home are gonna bring us back sooner, and I think my wife is feeling like a shut in and is ready to wrap things up.

I know this reasoning well.... My wife is trying to convince me into having the place closed by the end of Oct.... I generally have the boat out by then, but then take my time closing the camp itself going up a few time in Nov.

I do understand full well you don't have that option, on a real island

Too much rain...We haven't stayed on island since Labor Day. And this weekend isn't looking great either. Its depressing how many weekends we spent at home this season.

We still have 4 boats and 3 pwc in the water as well as an empty woodshed to fill so I need to spend some time out there soon.

I have to say that the dog you have in that crate looks rather strange!

I wasn't thinking ark, as much as your home must be like living in the jungle...

Because she is making you… We almost pulled the plug on our season this morning, Rob wanted to winterize before he left for Maine but we decided to roll for another week. We haven’t stayed on island since Labor Day, but I’ll probably head out tonight. May try to squeeze them next weekend as well.

You have to leave because soft water is soon to become hard water. My boat doesn't do diddlysquat on hard water.

There’s no acceptable explanation. Just a feeling of begrudging resignation. And I’m just speaking vicariously; I don’t even live on an island yet!

I to am dragging out the season.... I could have very easly closed up shop this past weekend, it would have been busy day doing so.... But instead, I enjoyed the day Saturday, and did just enough to say I was working towards closing the camp but not actually doing so...

This weekend however I just don't think I have enough delaying tactics....

Actually she didn't seem to mind much at all...she got used to clothing when she was forced to wear the " I'm in heat and bleeding all over the house " diaper for 3 weeks.

I'm just hoping the procedure calms her down, although your video of her towing Blake around was kinda comical.

Sad sight. Every good thing must come to and end-at least for a while.

The ride into the mainland was even slower than normal.

Dan, everyone knows it's very hard for me to leave! Family situations took us off the island much earlier than desired... completely moved off since before Halloween. I think I'm in stalling mode...one weekend I cleaned everything out, last weekend I drained the plumbing and winterized, tomorrow I'll set up the circulator and bring all my tools home... it's like leaving a foot in the door, you know! Thanks for the gift...much appreciated!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone out there! After spending the last few on the island, this one feels a little strange.

See you soon!

Hey there, unless you keep your boat in Lake Winnipesaukee till sunset-December 31, you are not getting your full money's worth from your NH-2023 motor boat registration! ......

Plus, doesn't it have an enclosed cabin with a really good heater like what is used on small boats in Norway?

If the lake in your neighborhood actually iced over before January 1, you would know it and a boat like that with a vee hull can most likely cut through the ice, one inch thick, while going 20-mph, up on plane.

I did...too many complaints from the regulars at the Breeze...they come for the views and wanted a change of scenery!

Anyone out there love a good mystery? Here's one to ponder. Last year, Gilford assessed our Mt. View slip at 42k. This year's assessment...135 k. If my 401k took leaps like that, I wouldn't have had to go back to work full time! Does this seem like highway robbery to anyone other than me??

I'd like to reply to this, but the kids in Moultonborough and Meredith have threads on taxes that have gone way off course. Wouldn't want that to happen here.
