Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
I get this message frequently, but not always, when I go to "First unread" in the "Views from the C-Nile" thread. Doesn't happen anywhere else. If I completely leave the website and come back it works as advertised, but sometimes, like today, I had to leave and return three times. I'm using a desktop PC/Windows.

Anybody else?

I get it too - I don't think I have gotten that message on any other thread - and that's my favorite thread!

You must be "black listed".
In all honesty, I've seen it a few times too, just a forum glitch.

I'm guessing that it happened when viewing the "Views from the C-Nile" thread. There is something posted somewhere in that thread that is causing it to lock briefly. If you reload a few times it usually comes up.

I've seen this a few times over the years but in short threads where I could more easily find the culprit. I think it was usually an image. I tried to track it down in the "Views" thread but with so many hundreds of posts I gave up trying to find it. The next time I work with my server consultant I'll ask him to dig through the logs and try to figure out what the cause is.

Thanks, all. It's probably not worth a lot of effort to chase it down. Steve will get a new boat sometime and start a new thread.

Whenever I see the word "FORBIDDEN" in bold, large font, it makes me want to see it even more. Reminds me of those naughty magazines we would try to look at when we were teenagers...covered in plastic so you couldn't even see the cover or the pictures inside.

Was a long time ago, though, and I've definitely forgotten all about it. Carry on, friends!

That name won't be allowed in MVYC. Pretty strict in there. Better to buy a boat that already has a name. Then you can blame somebody else and retain your high-class reputation.

Uh Oh. We've definitely strayed off course here.

Times have changed. Now those magazines are probably available in most school libraries.

About 20 years ago the man who had the "Assist to Sell" real estate franchise had a boat docked in Mountain View with that name in 18 inch high letters on both sides of the boat. The owner had an office across the street in the building where the high priced steak tips are sold.

The manager at MVYC had a letter hand delivered to him that said he could not advertise and run a commercial operation out of the club. He sent back a letter stating that he was not running a commercial operation, that was the name of his boat, and they could not tell him what he could name his boat.

I think that ended the discussion.
