Have a 75 year old drill press belt drive that the motor just burned up. Does anyone know of a electrical motor repair shop they would recommend? Motor case has the bracket welded to it so thinking I will need to get it repaired

A new motor should be readily available for about $165.00 if repairing doesn't work out.

It will cost more than a new motor. I'm sure you can get a motor on Amazon or Grainger or something. Might end up with a new control for it and possibly a different belt depending on the height it ends up at. If you know how to run that drill press it takes about as much skill to replace it yourself

I have no personal information on these folks other than their ads on TV.
http://aaapumpservice.com/ Click on the menu bars on the upper left to get to the electric motors and motor repairs. Dave

That was 40 years ago and I used to drive to Grainger a couple times a week for parts. They are still a major parts supplier for stuff like this. I did something really clever here, I Googled Grainger AC Motor https://www.grainger.com/category/motors/ac-motors I assumed you’d google it. Apparently I assumed wrong. BTW that link shows they have ~6000 AC motors. You probably want something like this. Check RPM and HP. If your shaft is not standard, probably easier to get a new pulley too. https://www.grainger.com/product/DAY...se-Motor-5K534 Dayton is great stuff. |

If you match the frame number all the dimensions including the shaft size will be correct. I'd guess it's either a 48 or 56 frame. Other frame sizes may fit too.

Make sure the motor you get a spins in the right direction. Some are hardwired to spin clockwise or counterclockwise, and some can be wired to reverse direction.
The motor on my old table saw stopped working. The starter clutch was getting stuck so I cleaned it up and got another 6 months out of it. Eventually it finally gave out, so I got rid of the saw because it was not worth the cost of a new motor. Later I found a similar saw at the Restore in Plymouth selling for much less than the price of a new motor. Ebay also sells lots of Chinese made motors for much less than graingers. |

What KDL says:
Match the frame number, and you'll probably be good to go.
