Monkey Trunks-Laconia
Passed by Monkey Trunks next to the Broken Spoke today and it has been completely dismantled.
Another victim of Covid, just didn’t do enough business in normal times or the area is being redeveloped? Anyone have any info? Sent from my iPhone using Winnipesaukee Forum mobile app |

Going...Going....
Drove by yesterday more than half of the wood structures gone. A week or so ago it was just the ropes. Probably costs close to the same amount to take it down as it cost to build. Can't imagine how much money was lost. I wonder if the owner will be reimbursed for the business through stimulus money? From Goldman Sachs 20 % of small businesses fail in the first year, 30% in the second year, 50% in their fifth year and 70% by ten years these numbers are pre covid.

Well whadya know...
...I always thought it was part of Funspot, not a separate, distinct business. Very unfortunate for them...

Seems like all MT locations are closed
Monkey had 3 locations.
From their FB page: "Monkey Trunks began in June 2008 at the Chocorua location in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The goal was to create an adventure experience that would be fun for all ages. Since then, we’ve grown and expanded, we now have three spectacular locations in New England: Chocorua, NH; Weirs Beach, NH; and Saco, ME. We’re proud to offer high rope and zipline adventure parks for the entire family!" On June 4 they posted: "To our Monkey Trunks family, We have come to the difficult decision not to open for the 2020 summer season and to remain closed permanently. We have had an AMAZING journey bringing joy to our many customers over the years and cherish the friendships that have been created because of Monkey Trunks. Thank you to all of our employees for facilitating unforgettable experiences for our customers. Our dedicated employees have been the driver behind an attraction unlike any other in New England. While you won’t see anyone riding on a Monkey Trunks zipline or climbing on our cargo nets this summer, it brings us tremendous happiness to look back on all of the incredible experiences our customers and employees have had over the years. We are confident the time spent at Monkey Trunks will be forever remembered. Thank you for your loyalty and continued support over the years. As this chapter closes, we know that the Monkey Trunks spirit will live on and you will hear stories 30 years from now about an employee’s awesome summer job or stories of the incredible family vacation that was topped by visiting Monkey Trunks. It’s been a wild ride for all of us and we encourage you to continue to try new outdoor activities with your friends and families while enjoying all of what New England has to offer." |
