Yes, they did receive a free pass. Look back on the confirmations of Ginsberg, Breyer, Sotomayor, and Kagan. All sailed through with moderate to strong Republican support. You know why, it was the right thing to do. They were qualified candidates who deserved to be treated in a respectful manner. Republicans did not pull the stunts being pulled by Democrats. Robert Bork, Clarence Thomas, John Roberts, Neil Gorsuch, and now Kavanaugh, each a dog fight. Good men being maligned for political gain. Cal Coon said it accurately, the hate comes from one side only.

Look at how an honorable man like Mitt Romney was treated. He had a binder of qualified women to fill important positions and was crucified by the press. Nothing nefarious. If only he had a little of Trump in him, and fought back, he may have been President.

What backlash did Obama receive for lying to us? (Bengasi; "If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. If you like your insurance, you can keep your insurance.") Clinton lied under oath and was never convicted by the Senate. Free passes to both.

The tone and behavior is being set by liberals. Look at how Occupy Wall Street and BLM protestors behave versus Tea Party protestors. How the left takes the law into their own hands and tears down statues instead of going through the process in a democratic way. The examples are endless.

I love that Trump fights back. He doesn't let one slight go unnoticed.
