Ragged Island
We were out all day today and poking around found a little beach area on Ragged I.
I approached at a 90 degree angle straight into the beach but did an abrupt reverse when it got shallow with abundant rocks...there were a few boats at the small beaches. My question is: is this a private area (noticed swim floats at one of the beaches)? If not private, is there a trick to getting close to the beaches without damage? |

I like the eastern side, between the island and mainland, better as it's more sheltered and tropical, but to get into that beach you gotta be really careful. I've gently floated in, but at some point it's best to jump ship and walk 'er in (and out). Once in, though, the sand is wonderful and, midweek, you'll be (usually) alone.

Scroll down and there is a brief description of Ragged. Photo shows the 2 docks, our Eastern at the far dock. |

The key to getting into the western beach area is to go when there's about a foot more water in the lake.

There is no Mainland. Ragged is surrounded by islands.
