Greens basin
How big a boat is safe to navigate all the way to Greens Basin? I have safely navigated in 29' with 9'2" beam several times. Wondering about the narrow stretch with several markers just after Lees Mills.

I think I'd be more worried about the draft, than the width or length of your boat, especially considering that the lake level is a bit low lately.

To the best of my recollection, it's plenty wide enough for any pleasure boat
i have ever seen and draft is not an issue at all. I have never seen less than 9 feet of water in the channels. |

Greens basin
Not concerned about the draft, any marked navigable channel would be deep enough or all those homeowners in the basin will not be boating for the rest of the summer, besides the lake level is still above autumn height per Bizer. Large cruisers in MVYC still navigating the club and the depth there is less than the navigable channels in the basin. Its the width I would be concerned with.

I would estimate it at least 25 feet wide at the narrowest part. I've been boating on Winni since I was a kid and I can only recall seeing one cruiser bigger than 28 feet or so north of Melvin Bay. Seems like big boats don't go up there much.

Back in the Days of Yore
Years ago, when anchoring out overnight was allowed, we would cruise to a nice spot just outside of Green's Basin near a small island and drop the hook. Enroute to our anchorage location, our 28' foot boat with its 10'-6" beam squeezed through a narrow channel that has a large, low rock next to it. Oh - - those were the days (and nights)!!! ⚓️

We are 28' LOA, 9'6" beam and draft of 3' with the props down and go through that section all the time without issue. There's one part in the middle of the channel where there is a lighted navigation marker on a rock. I can't comfortably fit through there with another boat coming in the other direction, but if you plan ahead for that so you're going through solo you'll be fine.

Believe you are referring to marker #52. Sufficient depth but not too wide.

Whistle by the graveyard?
What are we supposed to do when passing by the Witches?
