Spaulding turnpike work
Am I the only one who thinks that the spaulding turnpike re-work (expanding from single lane to two lanes exit 12 to 16) is taking a loooooong time ? Stimulas money/infrastructure money being a bit abused here??
This is their third year and I believe it is going to take at least another 1-2 years ?? r u kidding ? They built the entire Hoover dam in that amount of time. |

A few more workers ?
re: Hoover Dam
"Once construction began, Six Companies (the construction company) hired large numbers of workers, with more than 3,000 on the payroll by 1932 and with employment peaking at 5,251 in July 1934." |

Totally understand Sal. but,.... 6 miles of already existing road verses carving out one of the most impressive feats in the history of Man from a in-hospitable mountain of stone ???
Oh yeah, we have some better modern equipment now, ya think ?? |

That is so funny you mention that. We went there yesterday and said the same thing!!!! But I know nothing about road work and how long it should take. It just seems like that job has taken forever.

Happen to know one of the Principles of the firm doing the major part of the work and I asked him the same thing.
What he said was that the state specified the time line and that they maned the job accordingly. Knowing something about the company they have 5 to 10 times the equipment and man power and could have done it in half the time if that's what the contract specified. |

On a similar note, we came home via Rt 3 today. The new toll booths in Merrimack were re-constructed at about the same time as the ones in Hampton. Does anyone know why they decided to NOT implement full speed EZPass lanes here like the ones in Hampton?
There seems to be plenty of room and it would have made sense to do while they were rebuilding. |

test run
From what I understand the Hampton tolls were a test run to see if they worked before adding new ones.
I’ve heard that the Hooksett tolls are next. Maybe after that they will get rid of the useless Bedford tolls and move them to Nashua. |

That's kind of my point. If they were thinking they might change it in the future, why did they just finish redoing it?

because
That would make sense, and we all know that state workers never or hardly ever do things that make sense. I believe they call it job security. Makes no sense to me
