Hello all, I've read these forums for a while, but this is my first post...
My dad and I have fished for smallmouth in the Wolfeboro and Alton areas for years, but thought it might be fun to go out with a guide to learn some new tricks. Anybody have any recommendations of guides they've used or heard good things about? Thanks and much appreciated, Erik |

My brother and I went out with Kurt Golder out of Wolfeboro a couple years back. The experience was okay, although there were a few things that bothered me. First, after we got there he told us it was his policy to fish on scheduled days regardless of conditions. I thought this was kind of a crazy policy given how varying conditions can be, but fortunately the conditions were good on our day. Next he instructed us that we couldn't eat anything in the boat because he was concerned about crumbs. He also mentioned that when moving around in the boat, we should step in a certain fashion to avoid wearing out the carpeting. We caught a few fish, but certainly nothing great. I wouldn't go back out with him as it was just an okay experience.
If you want a great small mouth experience, look up John Marshall of River Excitement on the Connecticutt River up around White River Junction. He also does trout trips. By far, he is the best guide I have ever used. He provides a gourmet lunch (he was a chef before he was a guide) and he treats you like a king. Good Luck |

Wolfeboro Outfitters
I suggest calling Wolfeboro Outfitters. They may have several names.
I recall a fishing guide named Shawn Mazurka (spelling?) that we met at the town docks last spring. As I recall, he does half- and full-day excursions using his own fishing boat. Wolfeboro Outfitters had a video of him and Charlie Moore in a contest. Of course, Charlie won, but Peter (at Wolfeboro Outfitters) thought it was rigged! |

Dr Hook
Hey Erik,
Last fall I went out with Peter Grasso drhook1@verizon.net AKA "Dr Hook". He goes out of Weirs. Really had a great experience with him and caught some beautiful salmon. I highly recommend him. http://mysite.verizon.net/drhook1/ Leo. |
