Well, his is newer, and has the added weight of the hi top model and a/c unit, but mine has the added weight of speakers, amp , subwoofer and wine bar...might be a toss up!

Had to run down to Dover yesterday for my daughter's baby shower and was expecting a horrific ride back out here...wasn't bad at all, and NO boat traffic!

Default Rain vs wind

Looks like more rain than wind. Gotta love the enclosed cabin. Which island are we looking at in the picture? Sometimes the hardest part of the trip is on/off the dock and tying up in the rain. Thanks for posting.

Yeah, those would be nice, but I realize that you can't have everything. Actually, to operate the manual wipers, you kinda have to to a " seated sit up" to reach the levers, so for me, whenever it rains, I get a great core workout!

I can imagine the satisfaction of casting off, ducking into the cabin, and slamming the door closed, out of the wind and rain. Then on the other end not heading into the island dock all that quickly since you know you have to get out once you arrive.

That stayed on the boat. He'll probably get the same looks of disbelief telling his classmates about his boating into school that i get when i mention to my customers that I have to boat in to work!

People on the lake are quick to report on things they see. Many times news items are on Winnipesaukee.com before the local media has the story.

In years past I have noticed that often WMUR and the Laconia Sun seem to echo stories first seen here. I think they keep a pretty close watch on many sources and have scanners on police and fire frequencies looking for stories they can report on.

I can’t see any kid who gets to spend summers on a Winnipesaukee island with his grandparents turning bad at any age. He sees every day how good honest hard work pays off.

he had a pretty good summer...graduated to an adult sized kayak, getting a handle on the swimming thing, did some solo tubing, and took a crack at the neighbor's diving board with some success! :-)

The view from the C-Nile coming home last night was a dark one. The navigation lights from Glendale out to Mark have already been removed. I don't remember them ever disappearing this early...was thinking the end of this month was the time.

Couple of shots from yesterday afternoon...when there's snow on Gunstock, it's time to call it a year, and if I had been able to get my trailer out of storage, it would have been over. One more trip for me!

Always a sad day for me. I can assure you that the final ride into Glendale was one of the slowest I've taken, and there was just enough " boat wine" to get me to the docks!

Drunk on cabernet heading to the island ... "a glass" probably means one of those giant goblets. And I bet you exceed the speed limit in your high powered performance boat. I thought some of those evening pictures were blurred because of waves, now we know the real reason!

This boat couldn't exceed the speed limit with a tail wind AND a jet pack attached to the transom...better come up with a new theory!

Default Box?

There are a coupled of brands of Scotch that come in heavy plastic bottles that won't break no matter how long they roll around in the bilge. Even in a box, (I'm told) wine will go bad over time.

BTW, if the yakkers rule, the whole lake will be a NWZ and you will be able to exceed the speed limit with ease. In the normal course of things, we'll all go at headway speed and have a few en route instead of waiting until we drop anchor. It will be like bumper cars, and the "safety" issue will head for Davy Jones' locker.

Funny, I associate certain drinks with certain activities. Boating = beer. Home or nice dinner out = wine. Party could be either. Late night relaxing = scotch.

I'm not against trying something new, but as I read this realized I don't believe I've ever had a sip of wine in or around a boat.

Tastes change as we age. Correct that. As we mature. Too many carbs so I hardly ever drink beer anymore. And I can barely remember Annie Boone Farm fruity wine.. Someday, I'll get a bigger boat and the steward will serve only champagne.

same with me...used to be strictly a beer drinker, but unless it's a hot summer day or I'm hanging on J's beach, I stay away from it and stick to wine.

When we had our boat, on the night of a full moon, or close to it, we would go out Alton Bay and a slow cruise out to the Broads. We would open a bottle of wine and prepare a plate of cheese and crackers. Most nights it was calm enough to kill the engine and watch the world go by and the moon come up. Great way to end a day.

Hmmmmm, I'm thinking this may be short term, but if it carries over to "island time", you may have a good chance of winning a medical malpractice case! No wine at island time?

I'm having the same issue since contracting Covid a few days before Christmas. Actually, I kinda prefer it this way.

Look at the bright side ... what if the surgery made you like wine twice as much but have no taste for boating.

Since getting Covid a week ago I am so bored at home I might even take up drinking wine! My taste and smell was only gone for 2 days.

Codeman, sorry to hear you were under the weather. Hope you're better now. Maybe that's the time to try stuff you never liked? Brussel Sprouts, anyone?

We somehow managed to pull off the vacation to the BVI unscathed, but a week after I got it. Then Mary, and Kyle popped today. Luckily I have felt fine. I had minor cold symptoms before I popped. The only way I knew was I lost taste and smell. Couldn’t taste my lunch!

Default the all important 's'

What's the plural of Spinach?
If I want more than on e whisky, is it 'ies' or 'y's'? Never mind. Just make it a double.

I would go with the ies.....y's would make it possessive, and you never want to be possessed by your alcohol of choice!

Steve, just a few reminders for the new boating season to keep you out of trouble on the C-Nile:

1) You need to stay below 45 mph
2) Please stay away from shore when you are pulling wake surfers
3) Stop blasting the hip-hop tunes from your tower speakers

If you follow those rules we won't shame you for not drinking IPA's at sunset.

You can find me in the club...bottle full of bub... sorry, I was having Super Bowl halftime show flashbacks.... just my .50 Cent's worth...
45 mph??? No problem.
Wake surfers?? I think I've pulled my grandson in a tube a couple of times, but that's it.
Hip Hop from tower speakers? All my speakers are in the cabin, so the only one who'll suffer damage from that is me. Any sound escaping would probably be drowned out from the extremely loud " through the hull " exhaust pipes, so we're good with that as well!
The only issue I'm gonna have is lugging the 100 pounder propane tanks after my December open heart surgery. I'd better step up my " cardiac rehab " routines....fast!! :-)

Default End the DIY

It may be time to end the DIY, at least for the propane. There are plenty of companies that will do this for you, and it's a good way to break them in to picking up a little more of the work each season.
