Thanks to everyone for the feedback and advice. It is relatively shallow under our boat, and I did exactly as suggested - measured the depth of the lift at which the boat now floats and calculated how much lower I can lower the lift before it "bottoms out." It seems it's only 4"-6", so I've scheduled to take the boat out this Friday - sadly. But at least I won't find myself high and dry (literally) in a couple weeks. Sad to see the boating season come to an end.
