My price for 2017-2018 with the "Our Town" co-op will be $1.84/gallon for 700-1200 gallons. That's up from $1.66 last year and it was $1.88 the year before.

Just went through this as well. We are with Amerigas and we are up $.22 from last year (after "bargaining" with them).

You should give Eastern Propane a try.
Good prices, friendly service and (local) family owned. |

I would like to do that but Amerigas owns our tank (previous owner set up) and we have a 1,000 gallon tank. Eastern's regular pricing is better than we what have let alone the additional discount we would get from joining the Our Town co-op. I have been told it's a pain to change especially if you have a lot of propane in the tank but welcome any thoughts from people that have switched.

What about the existing propane in the tank? I have heard some places won't allow that (i.e. you have to get rid of it and some suppliers won't buy it back).

I was speaking about existing tanks. I have changed three times over 11 seasons Irving, Eastern and Dead River and never an issue. They want your business

I had two suppliers who wouldn't cooperate so I bought the 1000 gal tank from Energy North and I get an extra 10 cents off the Our Town propane deal.

Mind me asking what that cost? Our place is about 10 years old now. Assuming the tank is probably original to the house. Any idea on the lifespan of an underground tank?

I paid around $2500 for a 9 year old tank. I was told (but could never verify) they are obligated to sell it to you at their undepreciated cost. A properly maintained tank (anode protected) should easily last 30-40 years.

Does anyone have any updated propane prices -- particularly Eastern Propane? Thanks.
