Default West Rattlesanke Mtn - Holderness

Nice weekend for a short hike with excellent views. Located in Holderness on Rt113. Bring a picnic lunch. Also a restaurant in Holderness going towards Meredith past variety store on side road. Go there Sunday's after going to Church Island. Just Google west rattlesnake hike NH and look at tripadvisor revues.

Default Great hike

If you head up to Holderness and Squam Lake, take Rt 113 heading to Sandwich. A couple miles up on the right you will find the trailhead for Rattlesnake Mt which overlooks Big Squam lake. The hike is about 20 minutes and very easy. You come out on a rocky bald face high above the lake. The view is breathtaking, you can see the whole lake with Winnie in the background. The view rivals Mt Major and is a whole lot easier!

Sorry Dave I missed your post! I'll chalk it up to great minds thinking alike!

As a middle age woman myself, I would say definitely a West Rattlesnake mountain hike is doable and well worth it! I hiked Mt. Major last Sept and was wondering if I called the airport how much I would have to pay for them to get me off the mountain top

Agreed the Rattlesnake hike is easy and views are spectacular. Not really a hike in my opinion. I took my kids up there when they were five or six and they easily made it. Mount Major probably will be a challenge for some middle aged women would be my guess. But I'm certain all could make the very gradual Rattlesnake hike to see beautiful Squam.
