Question Churches near West Alton Marina

Hi !

It's generally great staying at the Lake as much as possible during the summer, but one thing that's a bit of a drag is that we miss attending church.

At home, we attend the local Congregational church, but we are also open to Lutheran, Episcopal or similar protestant denominations.

There is a Congregational church in Alton, but they don't seem to have a website and actually I could find no information about them at all.

We're on Rattlesnake and dock at West Alton Marina, so it would be nice to go somewhere not too from that location.

Any suggestions would be welcome!

Regards, Steve

The Alton Bay Christian Conference Center is great, they have a service and sometimes a brunch or coffee time after. very nice people and accessable by boat.

Default Methodist Church in Gilford

There is a Methodist Church in Gilford on Rte. 11A near the bypass. Their Sunday worship services are at 8:30 and 10:30 during July and Aug., and 10:30 the rest of the year. The building is a very modern looking church near the Animal Hospital and Gilford High School. This might be even closer to WAM than going into Alton.

Default Wolfeboro Churches by Boat

When we were on Rattlesnake Is. in the late 80's we went to church in Wolfeboro by boat. Then after church we went to an anchorage and had a picnic lunch, read the Sunday paper, and swam until it was time to return to Rattlesnake and pack up.
On a very few rare days when the weather / wind was strong we would drive to WAM and take the car to Wolfeboro. But that was rare!

Default First Congregational Church of Wolfeboro

First Congregational Church in Wolfeboro should be accessible by boat. Phone number is (603) 569-1555. Sunday morning service is currently being held at the Pinckney Boat House at Brewster Academy while the actual church is being rebuilt. Please call Pastor Gina - she'll be happy to answer any questions you may have

Default Churches near West Alton

Adding to the posting by Cindido I would tell you that for the past several summers the Wolfeboro Congregational Church has had an early Sunday AM service in the bandstand at the docks in Wolfeboro. I think they meet about 7:15 AM for a service. Everyone brings their own chairs or blankets. You can call the number in the previous post for details.

Yep, it is known by the name "flying diaper church" because of it's unusual design.

Default St. John's on Bear Island

We are on Rattlesnake, and often make the boat trip to St. John's on Bear Island. Each weekend is a new minister, so there is an assortment of denominations over the course of the summer. From the dock, it is a nice little hike up to the church.

I'm pretty sure that the Alton Bay Christian conference Center does a summer service each Sunday morning at the bandstand....can anyone confirm?
