Looking for dry firewood sources?
My current supplier is out of seasoned wood. Any suggestions appreciated...... FYI, I'm on the Gilford side of the lake. Thanks, Bigdog |

Everyone is out of everything! Pellets are like golds nuggets, nobody has any pressed wood products, cord word is scarce. I did manage to buy 10 bags of pellets from Energy Savers in Meredith. I have both a pellet stove and a wood stove, I would take whatever I could find but the region is sold out!

I understand that Province Firewood has recently installed a second kiln.

Lots of recommendations here, and in other threads. Just use the Search command at the top of the page and enter "firewood"

I know... Firewood & pellets scare and in high demand.
Have wood stove at lake, and pellet stove at Mass. home, which have been able to cut my energy costs in half. Going to buy in early Spring enough for both locations for next winter. |

Try Winnipesaukee Marine Construction in Gilford and ask if Ralph Scribner still has dry firewood. I know he did just recently.

We live in Plymouth and buy 8 cords each winter from Torsey Farms in Bridgewater. I believe they would deliver to you. We have used many other sources in the area, but for the last two winters have exclusively used Torsey. Their wood is, by far, the hardest, dryest most consistently cut wood we've purchased - it burns long and hot and we never have to re-split a piece. They have seasoned and green, in three different lengths, and they will bring it a cord at a time, all winter long. You will pay a bit more per cord, but it is worth the cost - the quality is that good. And, for just a little bit more, they will stack it for you!

I just ordered 1ton of BioBricks from http://www.woodpellets.com/
They are kind of pricey though. I used a few last year just to try them and thought they were great. I'm going to use them to supplement the cord word I have out back. The other thread was looking for pellets also. They have them in stock. PM me if you decide to buy some as I think you'll save $25 from the referral. |

Too bad. I know a few friends who have used them in a cast iron stove and they like them, not for use by themselves but as HRZR says, in conjunction with regular cord wood.

I would almost equate them to kiln-dried wood. They do get very hot, but with everything on a wood stove you really need to be aware of what's going on. Always good to err on the side of caution. |

I find they especially help when trying to get the stove fired, hot, and working efficiently, when I first arrive at the camp.

Glad you can use them. I am fortunate in as much as my fireplace guy drops the green wood on my driveway, and over the course of the summer, the driveway heats up quite well and helps to dry the wood. Thanks for your input.

on Province Rd in Belmont (Rte 107) doubled their capacity a few years ago. Are they still there? Their website address comes up empty.

For those that have purchased wood for the winter, how are the prices compared to last year. My usual supplier went up 20% from last year. I'm going to start looking elsewhere. Below is his response to the increase.
