Inn on North Main

I have reservations for dinner for Friday. I'll report back on this thread afterwards.

I live about a mile from the Inn and pass it regularly on my way to town. They have been working for months late into the night on the renovations. The rooms have been completely gutted and I'm sure bear no resemblance to what was there before.

Be sure to get the salad with the special (warmed?) dressing, it's quite good. The martinis are huge. They use real tablecloths, which I appreciate.

Heave, someone told me that someone told them that the lowest priced entree was $35!!!!!!!!!! I can't imagine that could possibly be true. If it were, this place will not succeed in Wolfeboro. What was your experience, price wise?

I didn't see the menu prices so I can't comment on that. The huge martini was only $9.

I heard the entrees are in the $24 to $35 price range.

I have a copy of the menu. There are six starters, six entrees and three desserts. Entree prices are $22, $22, $24, $29, $31, $34. Desserts are all $6. Though all entrees come with sides, there are additional ala carte sides that are quite pricey at $6.50.

I'm looking forward to trying this restaurant on Friday, but I know it won't replace Mise En Place as my favorite Wolfeboro restaurant. The prices of the two are similar, but Mise En Place has many more amazing choices. Their fall menu is absolutely wonderful.

I think that is going to be a tough sell in Wolfeboro. They will have to be outstanding.

I have not been to the Inn on North Main, but from what I have read it seems they didn't do their homework very well. On this Forum they have been knocked for being a noisy place - hard surface floors, unadorned hard surface walls, and a flat ceiling. Garwoods, the Restaurant and Mis En place each exhibit these same mistakes and have taken hits because of it, so I guess the Inn on North Main Street didn't read that one right.

On this forum they have been knocked for having high prices - and Garwoods, the restaurant, and Mis En Place each exhibit this same mistake, they are priced slightly above what most people feel comfortable paying on a regular basis. So I guess the Inn on North Main Street didn't read that one right.

There was certainly enough time during their renovation period for them to check out the local restaurants and come up with a pricing schedule which would make them extremely competitive. I had actually had hopes that they might have been priced so as to make themselves a regular and frequent stop, but, from what I am seeing and hearing I don't think this will be the case.

I guess I will have to actually go there and see for myself, but, from what I am hearing and reading I'm not in a great big hurry.

Camp Guy, it sounds like maybe Bayside would be a place you would enjoy? Have you tried that? I haven't read anyone in this thread slam the decor at The Inn on Main, did I miss something? And I DID say the martini was a great price, right? I am assuming they will have a bar/pub menu to go with their bar/pub.

I'm also hoping a bar/pub menu is yet to come.

Though Mise En Place is on the pricey side, I think it's in a completely different category than any other restaurant in town. I have had many house guests there who have felt it is of the same caliber as high end restaurants in large cities. I think it's one of Wolfeboro's treasures. Something else to their credit is that through every menu change they have made over the years they have always kept a few entree options under $20. I'm really disappointed that they're no longer open for lunch. That was a huge bargain!!!!!

Dinner was delicious!!!! We were a group of six who were going to the HS play following dinner, so we were there early, 5 PM. We were the first there in the dining room, but by the time we left at 6:30, the restaurant was three quarters full and the bar was crowded with a festive group.

The physical space is very nice, hard to believe it was the Lakeview Inn, which we used to go to frequently seven or eight years ago. Service was very good. However, the ambience is upscale, but the appearance of the servers is not.

We learned that the soup and seafood entrees will change daily. As I said in a previous post, the choices are limited, six starters and six entrees. A salad is included with your entree, no bread is served to th e table, there is an accompaniment for each entree and a choice of five additional ala carte sides at $6.50 each. Of the starters, or group had potato leek soup -$6.50, black mussels and escargot, both $10. All were rated as very good. Four of us had a salmon entree with tomato risotto, $22, all thought it was excellent. Two others had a half herb roasted chicken, $24, served with asparagus and polenta cake. Those who had it said it was very good. We did not have time for dessert and coffee. Desserts are $6 and there are three choices; creme brûlée, white chocolate cake and flour less chocolate cake.

We enjoyed our evening and would go again. However, as I said in a previous thread, the prices are similar to Mise En Place and their menu has so many more wonderful, creative and delicious choices that I prefer it to the Inn if I'm going to be going for a pricey evening out.

In my previous post, I made some comparisons of the Inn on Main to Mise En Place. We had dinner at Mise En Place last night, so I took special note of the menu to further that comparison.

On the Mise En Place menu are eight appetizers, six salads and thirteen entrees. I don't know how Terry can offer so many choices. Two entrees are under $20, one at just $16. The most expensive entree is $28 and there are a few at that price. Most seem to be at $24.

Our dinner was five star, every bit of it, including the warm rolls that were served. Michele, the server, is just as five star as the food!! Thank you, Terry for making our Anniversary dinner so amazing.

We are so fortunate to have both of these great restaurants in our little town. I hope both area residents and tourists support them as much as possible, because I would hate to lose either one of them. For anyone living in the lakes region, both of these restaurants are worth a trip to get to.
