Began riding about 11 years ago after starting off by taking a NH safe rider's course. About the best $80 or so I've ever spent as it helped me confirm I really did want to get into this. And of course it taught me safety techniques & tips that I use every time I ride.

i road to Connecticut one and back in a big circle one year, left wolfeboro, mass, Connecticut and then back up 91 into Vermont to 93 and then back to wolfeboro. it was a nice ride. I'd do it again

I love to ride and got my MC license back in 1986. I do a little over 10,000 miles a year on my Ninja ZX9R.

I guess the sport bike makes me the odd guy out here, but I can't imagine riding anything else (and I've ridden a huge variety of bikes). I love the comfort, power, handling and brakes.

i use to have a ninja 900 but i wanted something different so i went and got the 2005 boulevard, it handles great and is a comfortable ride.

Whatcha ride? I avoid the lake's region on Father's Day weekend. I like to ride alone or in a small group at the most, and I like deserted back roads. Sorta the opposite of that weekend...

I've ridden many cruisers, but I miss everything about a sport bike when I ride them. If I had to choose a different genre to ride, I'd likely have an adventure tourer, a naked bike or a sport tourer. That said, up until a couple of years ago, I had a sport tourer (Concours) and a naked bike (Bandit) in addition to my Ninja. I found myself riding the Ninja about 10 times more than the other bikes, so I sold them. It'll take a pretty big change of heart to move me away from the sport genre.

My next bike will probably be a BMW. I really like the 1000RR sport bike. I doubt I'll ever have multiple bike again until my dad passes (he told me I will inherit one of his vintage bikes).

Before I got my drivers license I had my motorcycle license in 1979. I started on Japanese cruisers then went on to superbike style of the early to mid 80"s then in 1994 I purchased a Heritage Nostalgia. Since then I have ridden mostly on Harley Davidson bagger type bikes. I am a large rider and that style bike is the best comfort for me although I like all kinds of bikes.
The Lakes Region along with the White Mountains offer some of the best riding in the Northeast (in my opinion). I rarely ride in Mass. due to the fact that it is much more congested and its more dangerous. New Hampshire motorists are more accustomed to motorcycles and there is obviously less traffic.
Boating was the normal weekend routine for many years but now the bike gets used much more often. For me, riding is most enjoyable and a great way to meet new people.

I LOVE to ride!! I got my MC license last spring and did some back road riding over the summer. I typically ride on the back......don't have to worry about having a few drinks, and I can wear fun shoes!

First off: I have maybe 250,000 touring miles under my butt. I wonder about "Fun Shoes". Is that Flip Flops or Burkenstocks....? Just because you are on the back does not make you safe when you "Go Down". Both of you go down the same. BOOTS are in order...protect your ankles.

BTW: No matter how good you are...you will go down sooner or later. You will use up your allotment of miles. I no longer ride because I figure I'm close to my allotment. I'm 69.

I have been riding since the 70s...have had many many bikes. My current ride is an '11 electraglide....but later this week I will be picking up a blast from the past...last year I purchased a '75 kawasaki H1 500 2 stroke triple. I had one in highschool. Its been at a bike shop getting its thunder back with a complete engine rebuild..so if you see some almost 50 something y.o.guy doing wheelies all over town next week...give me a wave

As for me, I have had my motorcycle license since age 16. Currently I have the Triple to enjoy along with my 125cc Yamaha scooter; Off-road capable, 65mph and 85-100mpg!

Gotta love those old Kawasaki two strokes. Looks clean.

I hit 90,000 miles on the odometer on my 01' ZX9R last week. It's presently wearing it's 21st set of tires, 8th set of front brake pads, 2nd set of front brake rotors, and 5th chain/sprocket set. Maintenance and wear items have almost eclipsed the original purchase price of the bike.

Those are great bikes, and the fact that you have 90,000 miles on it shows that point perfectly. A good friend of mine / college classmate has a '01 ZX-6R that he absolutely loves. The Triple will launch equally and almost hang with it through the gears.

i have to agree i've gone down a couple of times but i got back on, how many times will i get back up im not sure but for now im still on the seat.

mc endorsement in '68 or so. I've raced dirt bikes in 10 states, ridden a motorcycle in at least 20 states including California and Hawaii. Road raced at Loudon and Daytona.


Two weeks ago today I had a finger tip amputated as a result of a misadventure on my dirt bike. All the fun I've had over the years is certainly a fair exchange for a lousy finger tip.

Good post. Makes me curious about what others wear for gear.

My gear:

HJC AC12 full-face helmet
Aerostich Roadcrafter one-piece suit with optional spine and hip armor
Gerbings electric jacket liner controlled with a Heat Troller.
Held Hawk Kangaroo skin gloves
Magnum Elite combat boots

My opinion on said gear:

I would likely by another HJC helmet, it's been great.

I would buy another Aerostich Roadcrafter in a heartbeat. I've had it for more than a decade, have ridden more that 130,000 miles in it, and crashed twice. It's been simply wonderful. After all that use and abuse, I returned it to the factory for maintenance and repair last year and they fixed it to like-new for $335 (new, it's a $1000 suit with the options I have).

I would buy another Gerbings jacket liner but not their controller. The Heat Troller is superior.

I have already bought my second pair of Held Hawk gloves even though my first are still not worn out after 6 years. They discontinued the model so I snagged a another pair befoe they were gone forever. I have big hands and toruble finding gloves that fit well.

I loved my first pair of Magnum boots, but the second pair has been disappointing. I'll opt for something else when it's time for new boots.

Our last ride is a 1990 Yamaha Venture Royale "Touring" bike with full fairing and hard bags. Full face Shoei Helmut's, Vanson "heavy" leather jackets, leather riding gloves, Levis and western boots. We wear ALL of the above.....ALL the time no matter how hot it gets. Max heat we've seen is the Mohave Desert at 115F in Needles, California at 11:30 AM.

We kept telling each other.."You know..It's really not that bad because it's a Dry Heat." NB
