It really is not that big a deal. If they had shown a generic ocean scene with a generic lighthouse, it would be OK. However, the building depicted is pretty specific and seems to show a waterside restaurant representing the LP. If I did not know the situation, I could reasonably expect the restaurant was waterside. IMO this is deceptive, not a serious offense, but misleading. The restaurant is responsible for the ad.

Diner calling the LP: Hello, I'd like to make a reservation for dinner.
LP: How many in your party, and for what time? Diner: There will be 4 of us. Is 6:30 PM OK? LP: Yes. Diner: Oh, also can we have a table facing the waterfront? LP: Certainly in fact we will put you on our deck, we'll see you at 6:30. Diner: That will be great. Goodbye. LP employee to other LP employee: Why did you say their table will be facing the waterfront. LP employee: The table does face the water, and the Route 3, and lakeside Avenue.

I'm thinking that a lot of people are having way too much time on their hands to be able to come up with stuff like this. So what if the picture is enhanced to add a little water? It's an advertisement, folks, not a big deal. I bet we all see plenty of ads every day that we don't like.
I will be in Meredith next weekend...i think I'll stop in at the LP and enjoy some of those 1/2 priced apps and $10 entres....thanks for bringing this ad to my attention!! |

I don't see this as anyone bashing LP. It is more seeing the humor in a situation and having some fun with it. The LP could have some fun with future ads also. Come enjoy a good meal and watch The Pats.(the ad shows a Patriot/Dolphin game in parking lot.) After church come enjoy sunday brunch at LP. (ad shows last supper set up in parking lot.) This forum isn't going to solve all the world problems all the time, sometimes it should just be fun.

It's great that this ad is generating interest for a Lakes Region business. The LP is really getting their moneys worth.
![]() My personal feelings about this establishment is that I've never been to the LP and will not ever go. I was here when things really got out of hand and the owner shot himself in the business. The owner's posts and many others were so out of line that the whole thread is now gone. (I think that was a wise decision on the Webmaster’s part.) That bad thread really turned me and many would be patrons off. A word to the wise for other owners of local businesses: If you decide to post in a Forum thread at Winnipesaukee.com... choose your words carefully. Your business may depend on it! |

Have never-ever been to the Lobster Pound but have driven past it probably 500 times or something. Ok, so here's my question; so, after reading that advertisement with the 10-dollar entrees (like, what's an entree?), closed Mon & Tues, and good thru March 31, can I expect to get in and out of there for say twelve dollars including everything like tax, tip & food, if I just drink a glass of water for my only adult beverage? Will twelve dollars cover it for one person?

Very good point. I can think of a couple places I won't go because of the manner in which some owners have responded to threads...even ones that were not related to their line of business.

When’s the last time you got that beautiful babe with the car, or the tool or the house?
Deception is used ALL the time in sales. Look in the paper at auto section; it’s not uncommon to find in small print the stock number of the real car that’s on special not the one pictured. With the economy down many like myself have not been out to eat in a long, long time. I would prefer to stay at home and enjoy a nice dinner relaxing in front of the TV. All they are trying to do is appeal to us in hopes that we will come in and eat. If the altered picture helps then it’s worked. Besides, where does it show docks or mention lake access? |

Well...Where's the owners comments on this one? I find it interesting how he/they selectively respond to the post's they want. And the car ads are what make a lot of people think it's a sleazy industry. Carefully read the ads on TV (if you have the time to) they state "starting at $18,600, price as shown $26,800" Huh????? Oh I forgot the car mfg made 16 at $18,600

Is there any chance that some nice person could post the new Lobster Pound menu w/ the 10-dollar dinner entrees, and the bar appetizers? Thanks in advance!

I think I'm going to take the boat and drive right over to the LP and tie up out front. I can see it now, eating app's on the deck and over looking my boat sitting in the new LP channel. LOL

If you examine the ad very closely I believe we could find conclusive evidence that the Lobster Pound is also responsible for the unrest in the Middle East, World Famine, the current economic condition of the country and the immigration issue!

Hey! I just think that it is funny that one of the most talked about eating places has more info about themselves on their website than anywhere else that is controversial. I've never eaten there, but I trust soem friends who have. I would gladly go and not expect to tie up at the dock. LOL.
Direct from their web site: It's easy to see why the Lobster Pound, just yards from Weirs Beach on beatiful Lake Winnipesaukee, is a favorite of locals and visitors alike. Our guests are welcome to stroll our indoor and outdoor decks overlooking the boardwalk and sands of Weirs Beach, or if you prefer, relax in our well stocked lounge with an extensive wine list and big screen televisions to watch your favorite sporting events. Usually we refer to yards when we are talking about FOOTBALL. How many yards? 100? Or maybe more like 800 or 900 yds? Or maybe more?

I think it's funny that we are spending some late summer attention on the LP, but I also think that the ad is deceptive. Their web page backs up my assertion as well. Yards? BTW, I'll be in Concord this coming Saturday, You want to get a cocktail and some pizza?

Laughter at another person's expense in usually not good.
I have no horse in this race, but it does not seem right to me. Maybe we should comment on the food or the service or the wait time etc more and less on the silly things. |

I for one as an outsider looking in, most of the time. I try to get as many people I know to visit the Weirs area in order to share my love for the lake.
If someone who has not been to the lake saw this ad, they would think that the LP is on the waterfront, and that is just wrong. I have never been impressed with the restaurant, I keep trying, hoping it was just a bad time, but it really is not for me.

Also should someone arrive and want to be on the water, they see that LP is not on the water and can drive to another place. They know when they go in that it is not on the water afterall. Why they started this with such an ad seems just dumb. Peace! |

Makes sense. Hey, we all have insecurities. But the difference between a man with tact and one that resembles a Neanderthal is knowing when to keep one's opinion to himself. But I digress... ...and he's a business owner no less, who relies on the public to keep his business going? No, can't be. I bet his kids hijack his posts...there is simply no way an adult would act in this fashion. Is there?

He wants to make sure there are enough empty seats for his friends that enjoy his humor. I intend to do my part by not taking up space there.

Yup,I'll be spending my "petty change" anywhere but WTB based on his offensive attitude on this forum.
What's the point of telling off potential customers when everybody knows which business?

I posted a similar reaction to his responses in the WTB thread, and then had it explained to me that somehow we were all supposed to know that it was just his sense of humor.
He even then chimed in "wow, you people are so easy to get" or something along those lines. I don't get. Maybe it's just me. Certainly kept me from spending another cent at his place...for what was a very average sandwich to begin with. Maybe that last sentence was uncalled for? Probably. |

It could be that Tommy spends a lot of time flaming people online at unmoderated message boards.
His comments seem a bit ... trollish. Which is OK in context, but such cavalier dismissiveness could turn around and bite his sandwich in real life. Oh well, the world always needs clowns. |

Here is an example of why I think the ad is deceptive....
My husband and I are always looking for a new place to go to (at home). Recently, we had close to 2 hours to go out for bite to eat before we had to get the kids. We are always looking for a "good...great... place to go to". This night we wanted to go to a place that had outdoor seating or a nice view. I hate sitting in a resturant that is just all walls. We ended up going to a place we knew. Now, if this ad was of a place close to our home, and we had never of been there before, perhaps we would have considered it because we saw a picture of. If we went there and found out diffently, I would have been upset. My reason for thinking the ad is deceptive

If you reserved a hotel/motel for the weekend because of the beautiful scenery and pics from their website and got there only to find it was a mile down the road would you be upset? O.K. maybe a bit extreme but whatever...Just put a pic of the place in an ad, was there really any need to put the water in front? There was just no need of it a "real" picture would of been fine.

PEOPLE, Listen to yourselves !!! If this bothers you, DON'T GO, and you might need a life also. WOW , I can't believe this is going on for so long. To the owners of the Lobster pound, I hope you made a TON of money on this ad, because we all know how long the winter will be. The purpose of a AD is to generate business. Good luck to you and hope to see you in the spring doing well also.

Just think how good the Lakes Region Businesses would do if all these people were out enjoying them instead of writing about them. Get over it everyone, I think if another place had done this other than the LP, we wouldn't be seeing half the negative responses. And anyways, as I see it and how things have been going in the Weirs....The LP should be due for a fire in the next few years.

Actually, nothing any of us write is really necessary, but it (most) makes for good reading. Just stating a fact (coincidence I am sure) that there seems to be alot of business fires in the Weirs area. There are actual bets in Las Vegas about what celebrity will die next. I bet we could do one for the Weirs on which building will be next to go up in flames. Just be thankful we don't have the same fire dept policy that they have down in Tennessee.
So, What is Necessary? Is it necessary to write certain things? or for that matter, is it necessary to read certain things....I guess nothing is necessary....but we do it anyways
