One would think the Laconia zoning board and building dept would be right on top of requesting McD's to come up with an appealing design.

The new DQ is attractive.

How's the new Mcd supposed to look?

Review thread 2 and open the paper to page 8 and view the picture there. It states that they want to build as shown.

That one photo with the red & yellow McDonald's does not seem to be out of place for that area of Union Ave. Just about every business; St Vincent dePaul, the former Fitzgerald car dealership, the former Burger King, the former Chrysler dealer, Amerigas, KFC, the Hot tub & stove store, HK Motorsports, and the carwash are all pretty much boxey commercial buidlings that are short on design and detail.

The McDonald's photo does not show it from the front, but it looks to have more design features than all the neighboring buildings on Union Ave.

Believe the Meredith McDonald's was built in 1987 and the newer designs now are more red, white & yellow, higher visibility as opposed to low-key blending brown. Hey, that's the way the hamburger gets fried.....whatcha gonna do?

Laconia now has a Walgreen's, a CVS, a Rite Aid, and another CVS just over its' border with Gilford and each commercial pharmacy is a design common to each drug chain. Probably, Laconia is just pleased as punch with any billion dollar brand name business that wants to build in Laconia and is not too picky with their design requests. Just build the building....hire employees.....pay property taxes.....and thank God it is not a methadone clinic! Drugstores in Laconia are good as long as they are good drugstores!

And McDonald's.....come on....everybody just loves a McDonalds big fat quarter pounder w/ cheese!
