Time to pay for the new fire truck.
"Tuesday, December 15, 2009 MEREDITH — The town's tax rate has been set at $12.54 per $1,000 of assessed valuation, Town Manager Phil Warren reported Monday. The new rate represents an increase of $1.08 — or 9.4 percent — over 2008. While the town rate has increased from $3.97 in 2008 to $4.23 in 2009, "the goal of the Board of Selectmen to raise no more funds from local taxation from current levels has been met — the increase in the rate is a function of declining real estate values, not an increase in local taxation," said Warren. Tax bills are due to be mailed Wednesday, and payment is due by Jan. 18. " |

That truck has been paid for already. There were funds set aside by town meeting years ago. The tax rate today is not caused by having to pay for this new piece of equipment.
