I'm confident that they bring short-term boosts, but there are variables that dictate long-term ones that can't be overcome by social media.

For example, we gave Ames Farm a try shortly after reading reviews about it here, but the fact that they're across the lake from us simply prevents us from continuing to go there consistently.

That being said, there's a mom-and-pop butcher in Merrimack that was floundering. Once they posted that on the local Facebook forums, they started killing it. Given that the location, price, and quality works (and it was just the lack of awareness), it appears they will continue to thrive. That's a pretty cool story.
