I have been searching old threads for any stats or records regarding the warmest temperatures recorded for lake water. I know it is rare to break 80, but it is sure happening right now.
And I realize it is an inexact science, as official measurements come from certain stations and often 18" below the surface - since, at a small protected beach, a daytime surface temp in the 90's can occur in summers like this one. On Saturday, a friend texted me from off of Poplar Island, and his boat's GPS was showing an 84 degree water temperature! This has to be some historic stuff. Anyone have any crazy records or data from the last week or so...or in history?
