Canvas Snaps Question

I have two snaps (on screws) that have come out of the side of the of my boat, and I have tried an adhesive to try and fill the hole with the screw snap but it has not worked.

The gentleman at Parafunalia in Gilford once told me to first try a longer screw.

If that fails, a larger diameter screw may be available but one must carefully drill the gelcoat hole wider so it won't crack when you screw it in.
