I just recently purchased a used boat that was formerly registered in NH only.
I have land in NH (no house) and I live in MA (and am MA resident) I plan to leave the boat on my land in NH and only use it on the 'big lakes' as there really aren't any decent size lakes near me. I needed to get a partial loan for the boat when I bought it (actually I'm still in the process of buying it) That's a whole nother story ![]() I will register the boat in NH since that is where it will permanently stay, but do I need to register it in MA as well? The only reason I ask, is because the bank will hold a lien on the title, and once I buy the boat I will need to get a title for it, which I assume I have to do in the state I reside in? So once I get the title I will have my bank on it as a lien holder. I would prefer not to register the boat in MA so I can avoid the sales tax, especially since it will probably never be in MA to begin with. Does anyone have any advice or info for me? |
