"Alton - A Town to Remember"
The Alton Historical Society has a new WEBSITE and has recently re-printed a book called "Alton - A Town to Remember". This book was originally published in 1987 by the Alton Old Photograph Committee. It's a gem! Here's some more info from their website

The Society has also worked closely with the Downtown Revitalization Committee who have been responsible for creating Railroad Park and moving the Loon Cove Station to that location earlier this year. Here are a few photos from the book...used with permission. These photos may also be found on Photopost if you'd like to see an enlarged version. The Old Mount pulled out for repairs at Alton Bay. Ice Buggy Racing The Adventist Campground used to hold "revival style" prayer meetings that drew a big crowd...most of whom arrived by train. The Busy Corner Store. Do you recognize this building?
