Default Power outages?

Does anyone have an idea as to where power might be out around the lake or when it might be returned? It appears, from looking at Blackcatnh.com, that its been out on Black Cat Island since about 4:20 this morning. CanisLupusArctos, are you out there? Get that generator going and let us know what's going on, will ya?

Parts of Wolfeboro were without power for six hours—including a new mega-McMansion development with the newest of underground utilities.

The temps were all above freezing so most dwellings weren't affected by yesterday's very high winds and driven rain—thankfully.

Default Power

From where I am we see trouble in Maine beyond the Verizon Portland Tandem due to power outages but no trouble with the telephone network in the Lakes Region. I cannot tell if the lines are down to homes.

Default 2500w-$250. - J. R.'s Discount store

On Route 104 in New Hampton, about one mile from exit 23, J R's Discount store has some nice looking Pro-Con gasoline 5.5hp 2500w generators for $250. They look pretty well made, light yellow and aluminum-steel.

Ever stopped in to J.R.'s?......very nice store for hand tools, power tools, lawn tools, trailer towing, paint tools, sun glasses, plastic storage items, poly tarps..... definately worth a stop plus it's right on Rt 104.....sort of like the old P K Zyla's store in Gilford. Low prices & easy parking as long as you don't get smacked getting back onto Route 104.

I asked if they knew about the free classified ads at www.winnipesaukee.com and they did not and did look interested.

Default Back online

Yup we had a peak wind gust of 64 mph and a doozy of a power outage on the island. It was caused by a tree down across Eagle Shore Road. NH Coop said to prepare for several days outage, but it ended up being just 24 hours.

The cam, modem, and router are on battery backup which should keep them running for several hours, maybe more, since they don't use much power... but I got adventurous and thought I'd see how long it would also support the weather computer (without monitor, of course). A whole 30 minutes.

Yesterday there was an internet outage resulting in another outage for the weathercam site. Today seems to be smooth sailing so far and even a few glimpses of the SUN!!!

The weather instruments have C-batteries that can support them for 6 weeks, and they kept logging data during the storm that I've now downloaded to the computer. Sometime later today or tomorrow I'll post some graphs on the weather thread.
