Summer people
Some years ago the head of NH DES made a prediction. He said that the people in the NH tourist areas were not likely to have a meltdown, hurricane, or volcanic eruption. What we could expect is a problem in one of our neighboring states which causes the people there to "evacuate" to their summer homes.
Let me date myself. Our plan was to run to the Lake house if the Cubans started launching rockets at the US during the crisis. He said that we should be prepared for two to three weeks of shortages until the infrastructure came up to tourist season capacity. Wow, was he ever right. The selves got low and are now restocked. The summer people have returned to Moultonberry ahead of schedule. I am sure that there are various reasons. And so, may I say WELCOME back. I have seen many more people than normal walking their dogs, and taking a stroll along the roads. There are cars in driveways that would normally be vacant at this time of year. But I have seen no problems. So welcome back, even if early. We wish you well and hope that by the time the real summer season happens the only thing that is being horded is SPF-50. Misty Blue |

Meanwhile, at The Hamptons...
Yes.
Contrast that welcome with how The Hamptons and Hudson Valley are welcoming their N. Y. City neighbors. https://www-cnbc-com.cdn.ampproject....on-valley.html (Rents are tripling!) |

Would you do a favor? Those that walk in the dark - early morning and at night. Those that wear black clothing walking black dogs. Please carry a flashlight or wear reflective clothing. Granted. Now. Very few people are driving at all. But same will apply - when these current times pass. Thanks. |

The area is built to handle the regular summertime crowds, it's when the uncles and third cousins start showing up that cause the shortages, hahahahaha

Nice to hear kind words directed at our summer friends.
We have one of the finest school systems in the state, excellent police ,fire and EMT services as well as a very low tax rate. All provided with the help of people who have no vote in town affairs, have no children in the school system,do not draw from our social services and have enough disposable income to keep all of small business going. I agree with Misty Blue...welcome back. |

May I add my thanks as well. Although many, including myself tend to think of themselves to be more “at home” here than anywhere else, It’s still nice to hear. I intend to wait until July before venturing up to the lake. Hopefully all things will be headed back to normal by then. Thanks again.

Also read in the Boston Globe that full time Cape residents are getting signatures on a petition to close the bridges to all but year round residents. We should send them Misty’s post.

I am a person who looks forward to the next time as I'm leaving Wolfeboro each August. I am only able to come for a few days twice a year but I treasure the time. I am hoping that businesses will rebound and that places I've stayed, Inn on Crescent Lake and (this summer for 1st time) Lake Wentworth Inn will survive. I look forward to August and pray all of towns people are well. I love being able to see webcams daily.
