Most summers we see lots of bats flying around our shoreline at dusk, going after bugs. This year we have a bumper crop of large dragonflies, and now they're what are flying all around our shoreline at dusk. But, no bats. You'd think the dragonflies would represent a real feast for the bats, but where have the bats gone? We haven't seen any at all. Has anyone else noticed a lack of bats this summer?

Nice picture LG. I saw 6-8 bats flying around over my cottage Saturday night. They are there, but do you think they use the bat houses I put up? -- NO -- They prefer the space behind the shutters.

awesome photo Lakegirl, even though they are not my favorite. We've had bats around the camp in Moultonborough this year and our house at home. I know they eat the bugs but that got a bit close.

I put up a "bat box" this spring, and it's now FULL OF YELLOWJACKETS.
Wonderful. Guess I'll wait 'til next spring to take it down and relocate. One positive: No yellowjackets building nests on/around the house.
