Sad, that so many of our WWII veterans are passing on and the news media does not exhibit the honor and devotion to our veterans of this great battle.

I have been to Normandy on June 6th a few years ago. The French in this are or France do honor and respect all those who served and more. I was personally thanked by locals right on the edge of Omaha beach.

Like it or not we do have to respect the rulings of the US Supreme Court.

He was convicted of violating the draft laws of the United States. He refused to serve in the US Armed Forces.
His conviction was overturned on a technicality by the US Supreme Court.

Indeed this was an important day in history.... I was fortunate enough to get the chance to listen to my Uncle, who was serving in the Army, on one of the troop ships and lived to tell the tale of his view of war, and his part in it.

It only happened once, and I never asked him about again, nor did I ask him to start when he did... but when the men that fought that war talked you listened...It saddens me that they are all passing away... I fear that not enough of next generation, have heard and comprehended what the veterans of WWII had to tell....

Upon my uncles passing his family got to see again, the letter written by his Commanding Officer, that got my uncle the Silver Star... An encounter he never could bring himself to tell any of us.

To all that have served in the Armed Services, Thank-you is not enough, but it is all I have got.....

My father in law passed about 15 years ago, a veteran of the Italy air war--he was a Mitchell belly bomber gunner shot down over and escaped from Italy by the skin of his...

He never spoke of it but once eluded to certain actions he had to take to survive after encountering Nazi troops on his way to freedom.. How many real heros have gone (or will go) to their graves with such a burden. God bless their souls.

I also visited on the 60th. The Normans truly appreciate Americans. Very powerful. The meek gentleman that we called uncle Jim landed on Omaha Beach on June 6. Never a word spoken of it.
