While a new truck like this may cost $30,000, an old beater could be way less .... will be kinda interesting to see what this one looks like and how much, if any, the insurance pays .... would be interesting to see the list of payable bills .... removal from 75'- Lake Winnipesaukee depth through the ice ..... destroyed truck ... must be other costs like insurance penalty points .... and more .... maybe ambulance or fire dept related bills?
Hope there were no injuries other than a dented wallet.

Agree. My brother in law has a 2500 and sticker on it was $66,000. Sent from my iPhone using Winnipesaukee Forum mobile app |

There is a reason as to why the price range for this truck has spanned between 30K and 75K... Politics anyone?

My wife stopped by this afternoon and took a photo. If this is the spot , they were lucky on two counts. The water is only 6 to 8' deep at the end of the Glendale docks so the back of the truck was likely still up on the ice. Once out of the cab they would have truck bed railing to grab onto. Still pretty scary. Then recovery of the truck could be made by a tow truck on shore. Easier if they were heading out rather than in.
Good that they made it out. |

They used to run a bubbler near the boat house to the left. Could be the source of the problem if they still have one going.

Used to be, people ran a beater with no doors. Much better plan. Sometimes I think bubblers cause more problems than they solve. In this case it seems uncertain if there was any bubbler impact.

With so many trucks out on the ice this weekend surprised only one went through seemed like the assumption was everywhere was good but that ice can vary especially with so many pressure ridges out there. I don't like crossing them on a sled never mind driving over them which there was plenty of that going on!
Never the less, fantastic weekend and great to see so many out there fishing, I haven't seen so many people out there fishing in a long time. The Derby must have done very well this year. |

If that was a Ford it could have driven out of the bottom of the lake
