Yesterday, a steady stream of dirt bike riders passed through New Durham and the roads and hiking areas around Merrymeeting. I was told that this has become an annual event on the weekend before Motorcycle Week (I guess now the weekend that starts Motorcyle Week). Can anyone verify this?
FWIW, I was impressed by the behavior of these groups. Without exception, they were all wearing full protective gear, helmets, chest protectors, gloves, etc, slowed down when riding through residential areas, and in general appeared to be a nice group of people. |

Hi,
I wish I had been riding and could say for certain, but the event in the title was probably the event. Saturday featured a "north route" from Loudon; Sunday is the south route. It is organized by the Merrimack Valley Trail Riders and draws dual-sport riders from all-over. Money raised benefits the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. |
