Need someone to stack wood

Looking for recommendations on someone responsible that can stack 4-6 cord of wood in the Ashland/Plymouth area. About 3 cord will be going inside and the homeowner may or may not be home when the work is done.

I am not even sure where to begin when looking for someone that can be trusted in a home without the homeowner present.

Can't tell you so to get over in that area. What I can tell you is that my son and two young men from his wrestling program, my stepson, and I stacked 5 cords of wood in around 3 hours or so. All stacked outside. Would there be a neighbor who could house sit while the work is being done inside. You may be able to contact the local HS for kids who are looking for work. A friend of mine here in Alton gets kids to do the work around the yard, like spring time cleanup and the like. Costs him around $50 for 2 kids to do 3 hours or so of work.
One point about stacking inside the home: I heat pretty much full time with wood, and only bring in around a wheelbarrow load at a time. Even at that, we will see spiders or ants "wake up" and come walking off the wood waiting to be burned. I would be concerned about 3 cord inside the house.

This work is for my elderly father. The stubborn old man would rather try to bring in a few pieces of wood every day through the snow and freeze his arse off all night than to admit he needs help getting it done.

In years past I was able to do the work myself, but I am not able to get up there as often as I once was and as I age, it is not feasible. I then hired one of the neighbor kids to do the work for him. Unfortunately for me, they moved away this spring and the wood is still outside. There are no other children in the neighborhood that I (or he) is aware of.

Interesting that you mention that. This is the first year that I have had to contract a pest control company to treat his home. First year that I saw evidence of carpenter ants. When I had the work done I was told that they could not guarantee their work if wood was stored inside the home. Of course this is the first year that I noticed ants so I immediately signed up for regular treatments of his home.

Up until last year, my 84year old father cut, split, and stacked a grapple load!..Thats 7-9 cords all by himself..He refused to use his oil furnace, which he had installed 8 years ago..He never used more than a half tank of oil in all those years!...I finally talked him into using the oil furnace..I had to tell him that I had a friend that works for a local oil company that was selling me oil for 1.00 per gallon!...I have it filled for him, and after all these years he uses it and keeps the house at a nice toasty 72 degrees..He still burns what he has left from last year, but doesn't have to get up at 3 am to load wood into his stove anymore..

Last season it was cheaper to buy oil than it was to buy wood. But I guess it depends on how hot you want to keep the house. I burn wood during the day but I let it burn out at night. I prefer it cooler when sleeping.

I had a kid cut and split some wood for me in Meredith last year. He wanted to stack it too but I wasn't sure where I wanted it yet so I stacked it myself. He was a very hard worker and did a good job. I don't know if he would travel to Plymouth but I will give you his name and numbers. John Boisvert 603 707 8883 or 603 253 2944 I don't know him personally so I can't say that I would let him in my house while I wasn't there but I had no issues with him. As a matter of fact he called me about a month ago and asked me if I had any work that was needed. He told me he has a wife and 7 kids so he has to work 24/7.

I am surprised FLL hasn't chimed in, he is in that neck of the woods often and is always looking for extra cash to spend at Walmart

I am a bit beside myself on this one.... Apparently a group of 6 men showed up and stacked all of the wood in a couple of hours and then left. My father assumed that I had hired them to do the job..... I have no idea who they were.

I/we greatly appreciate it and will most definitely continue to pay it forward.
