Shakedown cruise - start of the season
I took out the boat yesterday to wring it out and ensure everything is working; Alton Bay into the broads. It was glass smooth out there. I saw only 3 other boats. I love this time of year. I expect traffic will be lower this year with gas where it is.
More safety this year. I purchased a backup, portable emergency bilge pump. I also installed an automatic fire extinguisher in the engine compartment. Seemed like a good decision for a couple hundred dollars. Not only does this provide me additional piece of mind but also provides 5% cheaper insurance (so it pays for itself in a few years). Looking forward to a great season. |

My shakedown cruise
I took mine on April 22nd and have been out several times since. I was really surprised on this Monday when I saw several very large sections of a tree. Easily 6 feet long and a good 5 inches in diameter.
So keep your eyes peeled for debris, it's not all gone yet. |

floaters
I did keep a good eye out, you are correct that there will still be floaters out there. I fish out the ones I see (and can manage) feeling good that I may help out the next guy.
