Breakfast help in Plymouth/Ashland
I have a friend and his wife coming down tomorrow. They want to have breakfast somewhere on the way down. They're coming from northern VT to Meredith. Is there any good breakfast spots in, say, Plymouth or Ashland (they'd be taking exit 24)? Thanks!

Arggggg I can't think of the name of it but there is a place on the right before you get to Walters Basin. My sister lives in Ashland and she drives down there for breakfast all the time. I'll try and get in touch with her and let you know the name of it. She says it's excellent.

Main Street Diner - Plymouth
I tried this place twice. It may have been recently sold, but it is a nostalgic step to an era gone by. The food was wonderful on both trips.
http://www.agilitynut.com/diners/4a.html From there I would suggest driving to Meredith via Rt. 3...Stay off 93 and enjoy the country ride. Watch for the deer farm on the left called Bonnie Bray (sp?) farms. |

Annie's Overflow right at the base of the bridge in Plymouth on Rte. 175 (the rest. is actually in Holderness I think).

George's is always a good stop ( Meredith )
If they are going to be in Meredith they could always try George's Diner. Really good food, good prices and comes up quick. Lots of regulars there which isalways a good sign

Main St Diner - Plymouth
I will second the vote for the Main St Diner in Plymouth. We stopped there on our way to a hiking trip up north recently and had a good breakfast. Just what you would expect from a good diner - good satisfying food, friendly service, and reasonable prices.

Main Street Diner, then Annie's Overflow in Plymouth
Annie's Overflow is OK (they have GREAT potato pancake-like home fries; when I crave them I go there), but I'd go with the Main Street Diner if you have to pick one place in Plymouth. Their home fries are fried up with onions and peppers and are excellent, as is everything I've ever had for breakfast there (I've never been there for lunch). Georges Diner in Meredith is also great, as evidenced by the line out the door on weekends.

Thanks, folks. I sent them to the Main St Diner and they enjoyed breakfast. I'd been to Annies and it was OK, but nothing special. I would have sent them from Georges but when folks visit us in Meredith mid day on a Saturday, I direct them into the house from exit 24 (Ashland)...I'm sure everyone knows why!
