I haven't found any brand that doesn't have issues, or for that matter any brand that will not survive a long time when properly maintained.

The Craftsman ran forever, but the ergonomics were terrible.

The Cub Cadet LCT motor broke the carb spring - I replaced it with a spring from a ball point pen and got another carb from Belmont Hardware to replace it (kept the first for a back-up).

The Ariens with the AX (LCT built) had a control rod issue when the transmission was placed in reverse it would overshoot. Simply adjusted and pinned the rod with a cotter. It then shattered the drive gear for the electric starter - I have that in my shop to replace - but after removing the busted pieces it has worked fine with the pull starter.
