I don't think that it will be easy to make a real world comparison.
Between the vaccination and natural infection rates, some level of immunity will exist for the Omicron variant... that alone should skew the real world results.
Really you hit it fairly well with the hospital concept, but we will see it much better over time... as the cost of that surge is going to embed itself in insurance premiums and property taxes.
