I agree about the personal responsibility, but it's not so easy in a social situation where only some are complying. How do I keep my distance when the person who gets in line behind me stands as close as he normally would?
Restaurants can send a message by putting up a friendly sign, marking 6' distances on the ground in waiting areas, having employees in masks and gloves. This kind of thing sends a signal and makes it easy for customers to keep their distance from each other.
